I'll start the conversation on our next manager...

Outside the county: Cian O'Neill

Inside the county: Anthony Cunningham

Honestly best of luck the next day against Donegal, you could've won by 6 or 7 today if it wasn't for bad wides. One thing about Meath is zero fear for any opponent, always a bitta belief there

Yeah if Anthony Cunnigham is the answer, what is the question you are asking.

Better off keeping PJ. Look how long McGeeney knocked on the door for. He needs to get better and keep improving the coaching and team overall.

Galway are not far away. For whatever reason, you just didn't light it up this season.

Always really....... even while Dublin were winning 14 Leinsters in a row 2011-2024?

For whatever reason my post directly after the game in Croke Park wasn't published here.

I'll try again. A deserved win for Meath and all the best to them in the semi final against Donegal. Three wins against Div 1 teams for them in this championship and I for one tip my hat to them. Galway today simply weren't good enough and outside of that purple patch of 2-3 in 4 minutes only managed to score 0-12. Some will use the 3 matches in 13 days against a rested opponent as excuse but not for me and especially with Galway in the same situation as last year and beat Dublin.

No real consistency under Joyce the last four years. All Ireland finalists 2022,2024 to last 12 and last 8 exit 2023 and this year. What will 2026 bring? who knows and will Joyce stay on for another year?

Personally I hope nobody retires or steps away. We aren't that far away. Now is a time for reflection. Next year brings a new format. Thanks to our management and players for your efforts.

Cian O Neill didnt achieve a lot with his native county. Maybe he is good but so much regarding managerial profiles these days is about hype. Get the right PR profile and be smart enough to transfer at the right time to the next likely potential All Ireland winner and you will always be in demand. Padraic Joyce is as good a manager as Galway could have. He is a Galway man and he certainly loves his county. If there's a baton to pass on it should be to another Galway man imo.

Anthony Cunningham lives in Roscommon...not Galway

What do Galway people think of Mickey? Any addition or was it a negative experience?

Joyce has had a good run at it. I think it's time for a fresh voice and ideas.

Very disappointing performances throughout the championship. No kick out strategy, defence not able to stop teams running through the middle, corner backs not able to man mark, no attacking structure not able to get direct ball into our danger men, huge spells of lackluster play with no intensity. A shambles really when you stand back and look at the season. Serious question marks over the coaching staff since Cian O'Neill departed. PJ's reaction to McDaid stepped across the middle summed up the year for me. Poor stuff.

Always may have been hyperbole but they definitely had zero fear of us today and rightly so it given the lack of ingenuity we turned up with. I won't begrudge them the win, would you give us a chance against Donegal in two weeks playing the way we did today?

Paul Conroy even at 37 next year will rule Connacht..

A tough one to take, no doubt the players and management are feeling it most of all.

I'll save my thoughts on the game for another time but for now, just a heartfelt thank you to the entire squad and backroom team for everything they continue to give to Galway football.

We go again. Roll on 2026.

If PJ is such a good manager, how has he dropped Daly, Mulkerrin and Molloy from the defense in the last 2-3 years, and still wound up with a unit that's more porous and easy to score on than ever. New rules is one excuse, but the lack of room we found in Meath's defense in the first half today, compared to the chasms of space that they seemed to find in our defense all through, was stark. As great a footballing spectacle as Newry was last week, our defending was pathetic most of the time. Whatever about a new manager, we certainly need a new defensive coordinator next season at a minimum.

We can't really have any complaints this year about how it went. If we honestly ask ourselves about players and form some of the drop offs are huge.
Keepers, I won't even go there but form has been poor.
McGrath, maybe down to the new rules but was far better in 24
Silke, form was poor this year.
S Kelly, has regained some form but not near the heights of 22.
McHugh, way off this year vs last year.
Conroy, not near last years form but was still good
Tierney, hasn't been great this year in the bigger games
Walsh, nowhere near near 22 form and blighted by injury
McDaid, has been good but we've seen more from him.
Thompson, great find but not a great day out today
Finnerty, in the form of his life but again, didn't deliver today
Comer, not available and we miss him big time

Some of the comments here are baffling. People saying "he has to stay" really? He's had six years to win an All Ireland and it hasn't happened. Even with big names brought in this year, including the much-hyped addition from Corofin, they still didn't make it past a quarter final. It seems like there are just too many personalities involved, both on and off the pitch.

Lads surely it is time for PJ to step away.... should he not have won more with them players.??
Galway have not really clicked fully this year at all imo, and ye have a lot of star players.
Fresh ideas required for next season.? I reckon so.
Hard luck today by the way. Roll on 2026 for this talented squad.
