Replying To togoutlads:  "Cooke, at his age, should give it a proper go in my humble opinion. He's 28, turning 29. Still in his prime. And going by the age profile of some of the Galway leaders on the field like footballer of the year,
Paul Conroy, a completely rejuvenated Shane Walsh, Damo and a few more, this really needs to be their year. I don't think this Galway team and mgmt will have a better shot at it, and therefore it's Cooke's best shot at it too.
His Galway-based cybersecurity firm employers could surely accommodate the lad for one year! He's missed time before, with his placement in Connecticut. I think it would be hugely appreciated by a lot of the Galway GAA fraternity if they could try and accommodate him getting some time here this year and having a shot at AI glory. The windows of opportunity for most counties to win Sam are very, very narrow when looking back the years. A team gets its chance, and despite two losses we still have our chance, a real shot at redemption and something tells me that if that lad was on the 40, he could add some critical 2 pointer fire power as the year progresses. Peter, your county needs you, do it, I don't believe you'll regret it if you do. Life flies by and work and career will be there for decades, le cunamh Dé, but shots at the summit of our beautiful game are very fleeting and need to be grasped."
Well said. I'm sure PJ and his management team will know this too and hopefully we see him back for championship. He would be a huge addition and could end up being the final piece in the jigsaw to finally get us up the steps in Croke Park. Life is short as you say, young men don't have regrets, but older men do.

Obviously any comment In ur mind is negative my point is Galway have 1 forward who is main scoring threat ,, they are facts and it proved last year in all Ireland when he was held Galway had no answer ,, them facts prob 2 much for u to digest ,,

Loads of teams in loads of sports have a forward who is the main scoring threat. Galway will be looking to start a fit Comer and Finnerty in the championship, and will be looking to both as scoring threats. We haven't produced superior scoring threats to Walsh Comer and Finnerty in recent seasons, and bleating on about it isn't going to change that.

I wasn't a huge Cooke fan myself. He didn't do anything for the aggregate lack of pace offensively to my eye. On the other hand, there's no denying his aptitude from 2point range will do double damage in the new rules. Anyway, no point going on about Cooke when he ain't part of the program in 2025.

What about the All Ireland semi final versus one of the best teams in the country? Walsh scored 1 from play, Galway won by two. Did Galway hold an answer there?

Its a great national league so far. Great games. Loads of drama. Everyone capable of beating everone ( especially at home). Normally 4 or 5 points sees a team safe from relegation , but you will need at least 6 this year , i feel. Donegal are 100/1 to be relegared even though they are on 6 already with 3 games to go. Galway are not even mathematically safe yet, even though it is extremely unlikely. For example if both galway and derry were to lose today AND both lose the last 2 games AND if every other game was to be won by home teams except tyrone to beat an already safe donegal in donegal AND kerry armagh drew. Then we would go down on 7 points on the head to head with kerry. Unlikely....but..

If we win today we will probably make a league final unless something strange happens. Only Donegal and Dublin could catch us weather it's scoring difference or head to head mayo Armagh won't catch us.

Id expect us to get a result v Kerry at home also.

We've enjoyed the matches in Pearse so far this year, even with the wild weather at times. Heading to Tuam now and hoping we'll see a great support in the old home of Galway football to cheer on these men that are putting in so much work for the maroon and white. It'd be nice to see a couple of lads step up on the shooting duties, and give us a nicer spread of scorers. Tyrone will be fighting for survival so should be a good game.

Is it normal that 4pts sees a team safe from relegation in an 8 team league? I doubt that somehow, when there's often teams 'throwing' games in latter stage NFL, once they're safe from relegation.

Probably not normal. But 4 points would have saved you last year as the bottom 2 had 3 or less. But you are correct 4 wouldnt save you most years. I think the point im trying to make is that this year 6 may not even be enough, which i dont recall happening before.

Everyone beating everyone except galway but that can change kerry etc can improve nearer championship and could easily go to galway and win

Hon Galway. Good tough match. A draw beats a loss any day.

One more win out of the last two games will seal a league final spot, more than likely against Donegal.

Today was a day that shows the benefit of using Tuam more...
No breeze, a huge crowd, superb atmosphere, great surface, and a great game.
Lots of work to do still but they worked really hard to fight out a draw..
Referee was diabolical.
PJ got to change lads around and everyone did well.
Good to see the local sham Brian Mannion get on and he did very well in fairness.
Probably need to work on kicking into our forwards through that blanket defence..
All in all great valu for money

No wind comment makes your comment irrelevant there was a huge wind there today.

The rest fair enough Galway and Tyrone played good supporting roles in the Brendan Cawley show

Except if it's Tyrone. That draw is as good as a loss. Two weeks in a row they have been caught in the last few minutes.

If we lose a league final, it'll be a staggering 7 losses on the bounce in this final stretching back 40 years or so. We'd slag the holes off Mayo, if they had that record.

No breeze is ridiculous lol. Was a strong wind, very difficult to score into it

Couldn't agree more. Didn't someone say that he was expecting to get a call and PJ never asked him back?
For a fella who flys back home just to play with Maigh Cuillin, it's hard to believe he wouldn't jump at the opportunity. He's also unbelievably driven to keep his fitness level that high and turn up to the club games top of the game. The draw was lucky today but it's not enough come Championship season.
