Replying To hopballref:  "The reason they were suggested to go in goal was the very fact that they can score and are comfortable on the ball. There was some new rules brough in recently, meaning goalkeepers can cross the halfway line unmarked, creating a 12 vs 11, in case you weren't aware."
And we have a sub goalie who is comfortable on ball outfield and can score. If Johnny Heaney wanted to play in goal he would be there already.

It surely has curbed his development as he looked a right good prospect at underage and we were lucky not to lose him to AFL. the new format with the kickouts would surely suit him also as hes a very big athlethic fella when fit."
Speaking of young development Daniel Flaherty played well against Armagh and Mayo which is great to see

It'll be really interesting to see Cian Hernon with these new rules if he used out the field. He could be anything. Exciting times ahead I hope for Galway. Your right about Daniel he has acquitted himself so well and he's only a young cub. I wont forget the way he drove at Mayo last summer in Pearse when introduced.
