Why shouldn't he? Surely for him being around top class inter county players at that age will only benefit him learning from the likes of Paul Conroy one of our greatest ever who more than likely won't be around next year. He'll surely still play 20s and link in with them for games. Don't see how in any way it's a negative in having him in there??

Agree. He will still be on an individualized athletic dev plan. Its not like the old days where he would be doing the same as everyone else. Its a very competitive area. No harm in getting him integrated if he is that good. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1893 - 27/11/2024 09:51:13 2581426 Link 0 |
Eoghan Kelly is a much better player than McLaughlin , can't understand that decision at all. What about Ger Davoren, Niall Walsh and Dessie? We could have done with having Dessie for the frees at the All Ireland. There was some talk on her about Niall Walsh transferring if there's any chance of that it would be great. Ger was superb all through the championship.

Because McLaughlin is a massive man that can be hopefully worked on over time to become an anchor in the midfield, while Eoghan Kelly doesn't bring anything particularly unique that another 4 or 5 panel players similar to him and his role don't have already. Dessie is simply too small for IC in my book, he's strong but was pocketed too many times when tried. As for Davoren, Niall Walsh and half of Moycullen parish being on the panel, it was a bit ridiculous. If they were that good, with so many IC standard players, then they'd beat all before them in club.

Disagree with all of this. Sean Kelly is the only Moycullen player of IC standard atm.

I think some of those lads like Eoghan Kelly and McLaughlin are I think county standard but they are not better than the lads on our panel in front of them. Squad is very strong at the moment. Are the likes of Jack Kirrane, Liam Boyle and Billy Mannion still involved does anyone know?

Cooke was if available is well good enough, Paul Kelly when first came into panel was useful chipped in with some big goals. Mulcahy I thought was going well till injured last year McLoughlin we wait and see. Has thompson been called in? jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1291 - 28/11/2024 13:12:35 2581584 Link 0 |
We didn't need Dessie. Paul Conroy was on the pitch. Top class free taker at club level. He should have been taking the right footed ones and Tierney the left footed ones when Shane was clearly not right.

Whatever you day about Cooke - he is definitely intercounty standard.

Did Tierney want to take them?

Sure how would I know if he "wanted" to take them. It's not really the point - he was the only natural left footer we had on the pitch who takes frees. Neither he nor Shane could take them off the ground because of the injuries they got earlier in the year but he's more than competent taking them off his hands. Shane was clearly injured so should not have been taking them is the point. galwayman2 (Galway) - Posts: 1283 - 28/11/2024 16:08:53 2581617 Link 1 |

When he's motivated and tries his hardest. It seems like he's very hot or cold, or was in 2023 anyway

Could become double the weapon with new rules, considering his penchant for long range points? His customary 0-4 from range will be recorded as 0-8 in 2025.

Thought Cooke was one of Galway's better players in 23. After a slow start early in the league. The injuries really sunk them that year.
