Club membership is paid but when it comes to finals only adult members get tickets.

Every player that was listed on a panel this year in all counties gets 2 tickets. Strong chance that some of these will become available later in the week. This is a deal done with the GPA. Not sure if it's league or championship panel but some of our neighbours have already got theirs. smallfrank (Galway) - Posts: 443 - 23/07/2024 16:44:42 2560999 Link 0 |
If he's fit he must start. If it flares up again, then it's 1 sub used. We've powerful subs / finishers now anyway.

Id hold him in reserve until the last 15/20. If he is fit at all he can surely go that long. If it happened to go to ET we could replace him again without consequence. Need to roll the dice a small bit. MaroonedinDublin (Galway) - Posts: 35 - 23/07/2024 16:58:40 2561011 Link 0 |
Peter Canavan is tipping Armagh to win. Tomás Ó'Sé and Kevin Walsh are tipping Galway. All agreeing there'll be very little in it. The Tyrone man feels Armagh are super resilient under McGeeney, just won't go away and could grind it out. The Kerry man was making a very valid point that defences at the top level all set up very similarly now and that the one nightmare for a top tier defender is trying to mark guys that are unpredictable. Top defenders / defences will manage predictable build up all day long. It's the attackers that can bring unpredictability into the mix that has defenders really worried. He feels Galway have more of these players in our fwd ranks and that we can do damage with them. The excitement is building more and more. 5 days Til Sunday!!! togoutlads (Galway) - Posts: 982 - 23/07/2024 17:10:42 2561019 Link 0 |
I wouldn't start him. He came off injured against Mayo in 21 and this year against Dublin and it didn't help. If he has only 10 minutes in him bring him on. Loads of options if he's a sub, full back, wing back and game would have opened up. If he's anywhere near full fitness he will probably start though

This was the fundraiser? Was it any use? 3 decent guests at least. What kind of tickets came with it?

I've been an adult player, coach and committee member. Committee member is by far the hardest, most time consuming, most important and least appreciated. My club gives two tickets each to the Chairman and Secretary, then one ticket each to remaining committee members and raffle the rest. Not heard one complaint. If your Chairman and Secretary were any sort of people (not all men now) they would decline them and put them in the raffle for the wider membership. Those roles are a service to the club and community. The reward for good work in the roles is seeing your club thrive. There is no thanks. For most people, you won't be remembered for anything you did. And for most decent people - that's enough.

No club team in Sligo trains 3 times a week in December. I doubt if any club team in any county does, unless you are at the All Ireland semi final stage with the club

I'd agree. If they believe there's a decent chance it could flare up early, I'd hold him to bring him in. He could be very effective when the game opens up a bit. It's a hard game to call, but if we perform to a high level we have a very good chance. Armagh will be thinking the very same. The very best of luck to all involved and safe travels to the thousands making the journey to Croke Park. It'll be a great atmosphere. It was very good. Well organised. Great grub and great guest speakers. Credit to the organisers. Fair play to the attending companies for putting their hands in their pockets to buy tables. Raffle raised money too. Same for Galmont event Thursday night, sold out before it was advertised. A lot of money for a table and still sold out. Mix of tickets.

Fair play to you, don't let any man or woman or anything else give in the way of your entitlement. 'They" should be available to do as you ordain.

Maybe it's more a reflection of Sligo club teams standards than anything else. Two pitch sessions and a gym session would be the minimum when teams start back training.

Yes , but not in December to Feb/March. Wit hthe new season any club manager orgainising 2 pitch sessions in Dec/Jan should be seriously questioned.

League started on the 15th of March this year..... pre-season is pre season all teams will be doing more at the beginning which for all the friends I have still playing Senior in various clubs is 3 sessions a week at a minimum (whether it be pitch/gym/friendly. As the year goes on they reduce down not increase. I think you have your prep back to front. SamandLiamSoon (Galway) - Posts: 622 - 24/07/2024 14:22:53 2561234 Link 0 |
