If Galway, Armagh and Derry end on 4 points each wont the score differences be based on games between themselves ignoring the Westneath scoreline?

Agree. Any kind of win Sunday is a good win it's a difficult place to go, very small pitch. Will be tough without the 3 lads, would take any kind of win

We might get past Westmeath without them but I wouldn't even be 100% on that but very unlikely they will beat Armagh without those three. Galway a different side without Comer especially. But Finnerty was playing the best football of his life. And Kelly a huge loss even though he's not been at his best yet so far.

Has that been confirmed or still only speculation?

When will it be known the time and venue for the Armagh fixture? Heard that the Carrick-on-Shannon pitch is being relaid - if so, probably Sligo, Longford or Cavan? Triffic (Galway) - Posts: 165 - 30/05/2024 12:13:00 2548351 Link 0 |
I think we will beat Westmeath without the lads. Mayonman (Galway) - Posts: 1915 - 30/05/2024 12:36:05 2548362 Link 0 |
No harm that Kelly is getting a break, even an enforced one. If you can't trust the lads coming in like Hernon, O'Curraoin, O'Flaherty to start against Westmeath then why would you bring them on against a Dublin, Kerry or Donegal? Even without the three lads there is enough quality in that squad to be beating Westmeath handy.

Kelly be back for the Armagh game Flemenstar200 (Galway) - Posts: 73 - 30/05/2024 13:38:50 2548383 Link 0 |
No such thing as a "handy" game - Westmeath put it up to Galway last year and it was only when they had a man (Connellan) sent off for a second yellow in the 52nd minute (when the teams were level) did they go on to win. Peter Cooke was outstanding in that game with 4 points from play and as we all know Cooke is not involved this year. Galway subsequently lost to Armagh by 1 point which effectively knocked them out the following week v Mayo. I would be very wary of this game especially with all the injuries to key players again.

If true we are without the 3 lads for weekend I'd be thinking of trying McDaid at 11 and tierney inside with Walsh and the 3 interchange, jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1388 - 30/05/2024 14:08:13 2548401 Link 0 |
Westmeath were going an awful lot better last year than they are this year though. This is the same team that lost to Wicklow.

If the comer , Finnerty, Kelly out Thars 3 of starting forward from Derry match last year match was in balance until comer , Maher came on if them 3 out I think v Derry thet got 1-07 between them I might be wrong ,, will the 3 replacement get same hard see it ,, my team with them 3 out hopefully there not Gleason McGrath. Fitzgerald. Glynn Mchugh. Silke. Daly Conroy/ Maher Heaney. Tierney. Darcy O conaghaile. Walsh. Mcdaid And give mcdaid a free roll around half forward line Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1020 - 30/05/2024 14:48:17 2548413 Link 0 |
We played a full strength Westmeath in a challenge a few weeks ago without a handful of starters not togged due to injury and illness and it turned out to be a pointless game given to how poor our neighbours was. After that we played Meath and they were even worse, was no surprise Louth beat them by 10 points. We are no great shakes with our form in league and championship this year but Meath, Westmeath are two teams playing through the motions and their players would probably be more interested if they were allowed back to play full time with their clubs. Wouldn't the likes of O'Curraoin, Sweeney or Costello be better options than O'Conghaile who wasn't very impressive during the league?

If the three lads are out that's the starting team I'd go with too. I'd prefer to see O Conaghaile start as a natural forward although I expect they will pick Sweeney if fit given his performances in the league

Could Tierney play full forwards lads. He is a wrecking ball and looks like he is coming back to form. Stick him in at 14 and send it in long to him a few times see if he can get a goal. JahTribe (Galway) - Posts: 155 - 30/05/2024 16:18:32 2548437 Link 0 |
I think so he has played it drifting in occasionally over the years. Derry tried similar with glass a couple of times. Mcdaid wore 14 for abbey last year and would be closest in terms of style to comer with size and directness Oconghaile bar mayo league has struggled even found going tough in London wouldn't have him on from start jm25 (Galway) - Posts: 1388 - 30/05/2024 16:29:45 2548445 Link 0 |

To be honest I'd have Rory Cunningham at 13 but for whatever reason he not getting a look in despite scoring 1-03 v Monaghan which in my opinion kept galway in division 1 for next year maybe he injured otherwise it's baffling,,, Kickitout (Galway) - Posts: 1020 - 30/05/2024 16:43:15 2548450 Link 0 |
