Jesus lads rewatch the game. Galway went in at the break ahead and ye can thank the ref for that. To see lads blaming the ref for the defeat is mind boggling here. Talk about clutching

And conceding 3 or more goals on a regular basis

No real complaints for Galway U20s were simply beaten by the better team on the day and in hindsight did well to reach the final. Next year a lot of those players will be back again to go one better and if the players are developed right more than a handful of them can go on to be established senior footballers. Saying it for years. Lost count of the number of time s Henry rode roscommon teams. Wasnt him tonight but he's bottom of the barrell stuff. Should be leinster or ulster refs for games like this. Club and county

I agree to the extent that Galway could have won that game today but they left themselves wide open to the counter attack all afternoon. Roscommon clogged up the area in front of their goal with numbers while Galway left themselves open. That's a coaching issue.

I'm not saying underage titles don't matter but the most important aspect is progressing players through to senior. There's a good few on that u20 team who have real potential. The Galway hurlers are a prime example of this. We've won so many minor titles in the past but so few of these have progressed to senior. allstars23 (Galway) - Posts: 49 - 05/05/2024 05:58:38 2543025 Link 0 |
You do realise Savo managed Cortoon to an intermediate county title which in itself is an unreal achievement with Cortoon. He also has been over County underage teams... Please do a bit of research before spouting.. Belclare7 (Galway) - Posts: 197 - 05/05/2024 08:31:17 2543036 Link 1 |
You do realise that Savo managed his club to a county intermediate title a few years ago? What's your definition of "doing it"? galwayman2 (Galway) - Posts: 1302 - 05/05/2024 08:58:47 2543042 Link 1 |
This a very unfair assessment, the minor job was advertised and applicants were interviewed, it was a full process. Neil McHugh has a strong coaching background, he managed his club right through the underage groups and they were very unlucky not to win minor B last year having missed a penalty in the last minute, he has been involved with the Galway academy teams and has also managed Menlough to promotion from Junior football. What coaching qualifications have you? Have you ever managed at these levels? What teams? As for the rest of the comments about Galway not producing underage players that is rubbish, we will get players from both this year's minor and U20 teams and ultimately this is what it is about, producing players for the Senior team. Winning them titles is a bonus but nothing else. GDL (Galway) - Posts: 779 - 05/05/2024 09:45:04 2543043 Link 0 |
Did you ever happen to drown your sorrows in Mountbellew I wonder, and tell the locals that theory?

Personally I thought Galway played quite well and appeared to have better footballers than Roscommon apart from the fullback line which was poor. I think it came down to some questionable refereeing decisions and it seemed that Roscommon showed more intensity and hunger in the second half. They also defended deeply and were trying to avoid giving away a goal at all costs including the free that wasn't given in the first half when the Roscommon player blatantly slapped down on the face of the forward running through from behind. tommy k (Galway) - Posts: 3470 - 05/05/2024 13:26:10 2543100 Link 0 |

Galway have a great chance of winning the whingefest AI final. Also, ridiculous comments from "never has been" supporters saying "underage is all about getting 3/4 players for further development" A Celtic cross at underage grade is one that a player cherishes as much as Savo's or Ja's 2 senior. I'm going for Galway to bate Mayo today. Do you think we should just hand Mehoe (Mayo) the Nester Cup before the game starts! katser (Galway) - Posts: 2522 - 05/05/2024 14:47:17 2543120 Link 0 |
Why is Lee Keegan analysing a Mayo match?Awful hard to listen to him going on about how he feels Pearse Stadium is a home venue for Mayo.Lord above it might be true but someone less biased on RTE would be appreciated. Alwaysencourage (Galway) - Posts: 395 - 05/05/2024 16:00:44 2543138 Link 1 |
A blow to be not starting Maher,Walsh today but regardless of the result here this afternoon when both of them are back starting along with Tierney,McDaid it makes for a strong starting 15 and can deliver a positive championship campaign. Not going well so far - the likes of Conroy, McHugh, Daly, Silke, Darcy not in it at all. Best of the Galway players so far are Glynn and Comer. tommy k (Galway) - Posts: 3470 - 05/05/2024 16:44:10 2543145 Link 0 |
Half time in Connaught Final. Galway have absolutely no plan. We should be dead and buried. Shocking state of affairs after 5 years.
