A lot of pessimism on here. I actually thought Galway considering they were missing so many players played really well. They had their chances and there wasn't much between the two sides. ponga (Mayo) - Posts: 658 - 26/02/2024 16:40:51 2528405 Link 0 |
Huge blonde lad with the mullet was Jack O'Neill I'd say, he took Conroy's place on the squad yesterday.

Focus on Monaghan now with the Rossies beating them well there must be an attacking mindset from the lads now to go after Monaghan and get the points. No reason to play a ponderous slow build up into the corners as a loss will almost certainly relegate us. The Dubs will give us nothing on their current form and Killarney will be a hard place to get anything in the final game. Not sure 5 points would be enough though if Roscommon beat Mayo we are probably in trouble even if we win. The draw with the Rossies could come back to haunt us. Best scenario is Mayo beat Roscommon and we beat Monaghan I think. JahTribe (Galway) - Posts: 155 - 26/02/2024 17:50:05 2528433 Link 0 |
Roscommon more likely imo to beat a Derry side who'll likely be qualified for the final by the time they play them, than they are to beat a Mayo side who still need points next Saturday night, and will be smarting for a performance after their second half lesson in Omagh.

Anything on injuries? TheBishop (Galway) - Posts: 289 - 27/02/2024 11:26:26 2528576 Link 0 |
Correct. If that falls to Finnerty or Cunningham its more than likely a goal.

I think a fit Jack Glynn starts on that team. Probably in at 4, Silke to 7 and Kelly to Midfield or half forward(Dropping back into midfield so that he can break lines). Very good team if we can get them all out and fit

The only player we will have back that wasn't on the squad last week is Conroy from what I'm hearing. Not.A.Quelly (Galway) - Posts: 95 - 27/02/2024 12:25:32 2528593 Link 0 |

Yes, we've a record in recent years and particularly this year of multiple top level players out through injury, more so than any other top flight county team. It's mostly muscular too. There are exceptions, ie McDaid, but much of it is muscular - tears, strains etc. Dublin's physios in recent years are regarded as absolute top level, often described as world class by their peers. Not everyone can afford that level but what's going on with these repeat multitude of injuries?

He was at Pearse Stadium on Sunday at the game. He was sitting behind me with other panel members.

So what? Lads are entitled to get away and live their lives. He is not fit to play at the minute anyway. Lads should be entitled to have a few pints after matches too imo (doesn't seem to harm the rugby lads) .

The pontiff has a habit of trying to make witty remarks. He misses the mark quite often though.
