Maybe so but there isn't a Club in the County (or Country) that would turn him away if he knocked on their door. lol.

Yes Con is a very useful player at his best! How are all these Dublin stars suddenly living in Galway? Hard to blame them of course!

Replying To PierreBezuhov:  "This guy has had loads of chances and if he was good enough to play for Galway he would be playing for Galway. Maybe he should play with his home county and try to win something with them. I wish him well."
He actually hasn't had a load of chances really. He played a few games very early in the league in 2022 and has been on the bench ever since. And wasn't even being used off the bench very much while others were coming on and making no impact at all. Don't get me wrong Owen Gallagher isn't the saviour of Galway football or anything but I always found it strange that he wasn't used more off the bench. He's big and hard running and can kick a score. Seems the perfect option to put on against tiring defenders. Maybe PJ just doesn't fancy him as a player. Might be as simple as that.

How about swapping Walsh for O'Callaghan and McCaffrey combined? I think Galway would have a realistic chance of winning an AI then!

How many chances should he have gotten?

Since we're not in the locker room or on the pitch during practices we don't know the full story. If he could help us get over the hump I'm sure Joyce would use him. Hard to say without all the facts.

It's nothing to do with chance's, it has more to do with using the to best possible extent the best talent available in order to win and the jury is very much out on that score on this and a few more issues.

I think he got more chances than most do and didn't capitalise on them. Good club players don't always make good county players and physical, hard runners, which this guy is, can stand out more at club level. He doesn't have the football for inter county - in my correct opinion.

The thing is that he played very well in those league games in 2022 and yet he has hardly been used since. It is one thing if a player gets lots of chances and does not take them but Gallagher made a big impact in a few games and was then completely overlooked. Other starting forwards have been completely anonymous in big games over the last couple of years and have still been given more chances.

If he made a big impact, as you suggest, he would have retained his place.

He got the man of the match award in the league game against Down last year so he certainly made a big impact in that game. PJ himself gushed about the extra dimension that he brought to the Galway attack after some of his displays.

Down?? Who didn't win a competitive game all year.

No doubting he is a talented Gaelic footballer, but we do not know the full story and I trust the managements judgement.

I started all this, apologies.
Just meant Gallagher has been very good so far as has Jason Leonard for Corofin. I think Leonard will be a bigger loss to Corofin than Burke as he seems to be playing very well....and also was not given enough of a chance in Maroon!!!!

Although we dont know the full story, and if someone has a reliable source, please inform us, you cannot deny Owen Gallagher had/has a lot to offer the Galway panel.
I couldnt understand how he was often overlooked for match day panels.
He would have been a great ball carrier/battering ram that would do a lot of work Damo does when he comes out the field, which would free up Damo to stay inside. Even if Gallagher was only coming on in the last 20 mins, his energy and direct running would be a nightmare for a tiring defence. Also, hes the type of guy that does the donkey work and lays the ball off to shooters. I think having someone like Gallagher on the pitch would only help the likes of Shane, Conroy, Damo and Cooke coming on the loop or taking ball off him.

Do we know if he is returning to Antrim at the end of this season? Big loss to Moycullen but they will replace him no doubt ;)

You have an opinion just like everyone else but it's no more than that and if you know more then you should enlighten us all.

From what I've heard, it wasn't his football ability that prompted his release from the panel. Can we move on now!
