How did galway lose to that mayo team, they are absolutely awful against dublin. Royal.Legend (Meath) - Posts: 699 - 02/07/2023 17:33:43 2491404 Link 6 |
Ye were the best team in that group and threw it away against a streaky Armagh side which put yous in a rotten position playing a local derby. Even in that game ye played into Mayos hands Galway are still top 3/4 in the country for me in terms of squad CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 136 - 02/07/2023 17:36:48 2491406 Link 3 |
Quick decision making - key for Dubs. Dublin always look for best positioned player. Galway and Mayo don't have this in their game. Has to be promoted at underage level. Really (Galway) - Posts: 623 - 02/07/2023 17:37:43 2491407 Link 1 |
We were missing, Silke, Molloy,McHugh, Patrick Kelly, Comer off at half time and Sean played whilst injured. The poor game management against Armagh killed us.

Good man yourself. Mayo lose to Dublin and you're here on the Galway thread. 2001 still stings does it?

Part of the problem. I think the defensive system has been drilled in too hard; to the point the sideline had to roar at them to press up at the end of the first half against Mayo when it was clear Mayo were running down the clock waiting to have the wind advantage in the second half. The killer instinct has been drilled out of them.s

The Salthill Cup is a huge achievement, coupled with theLeague title its been one of Mayos most successful years since 1951. Imagine a county who thinks they are top tier with no win since the time of the Korean War. PancakeWard (Galway) - Posts: 86 - 02/07/2023 19:25:00 2491497 Link 1 |

Yeah, so what does that make us? They beat us 3 times this year, including League final and knockout prelim. quarter final. Tbh, just as well we didn't progress - although, I'd still go with Pj, and maybe look for mire funding from Co. Board. I think Shane will now give serious thought to transferring to Dublin - served enough with a limited team. He deserves an IC AI medal to go along with club medal.

It is an interesting one. There are very few of the '98 to '01 group in any kind of punditry roles. Ray Silke did a bit, but maybe it just doesn't interest them. There are a lot of talking heads from certain counties. We do seem to be underrepresented.
