credit where credit is due these lads got plenty of stick after roscommon game. great performance today and they should be delighted with that display, plenty stil to work on but a win against donegal next gets us to 5 points out of 7. far from a crisis. as mentioned by posters already conroy was fantastic as was tierney. sweeney and mcgrath both very good in second half. mchugh excellent again. still more to come from cooke you would think, has not kicked on yet.

When you think about it our three main score threats were all out today (Finnerty came on when the game was over) so you'd have to be very happy with that win.

It just shows you, a kick in the arse beats a clap on the back, a lot of the time, especially with a bunch of players who have already established themselves at a certain level, a level that John Maughan finds debateable of course.

Very enjoyable game to watch, even if the last few minutes were a bit more tense than they should have been. Winning in the face of relentless Tyrone pressure should stand to them. And I have to say on a personal note writing from Denver in Colorado, it was lovely to see the rooftops of Tuam on a typical Galway day. What I wouldn't give to be sitting in Canavan's now, supping a pint and dissecting the win.

Gaillimh go deo!

Tierney had a great match today but so did Heaney and Conroy. Thought Johnny Mcgrath was very good when he came on. Sweeny took his scores well still think he needs to get more conditioning. Good to see that Joyce is beginning to realise that have 10 Moycullen men was a bit silly. I thought Tyrone had no ideas up front and the match was virtually over 15 mins in second half when Galway went 3 points up despite the wind in Tyrones favour. Donegal next week is a big one.

Three points on the board with Donegal and Monaghan to come we have to target 4 pts there so the games again Armagh and Kerry who are both in trouble wont be so dramatic we need to slip away from league mid table and sure everyone knows its Mayos year now with them destined to peak for the next 5 months and finally win Sam.

Well Done Galway 3 points on the board, 3 more should be enough to stay up. Team nowhere near as fit as other teams which is a good thing. With Damien ad Shane to be added, and I believe Molloy and McLoughlan are getting close to a run too, we could be hummin for championship.

The clue to your bias is in the usernane. Dylan McHugh has become a great Galway player....and definitely one of the best in the COUNTY but thats it . Ian Burke had a poor 1st half, showed some of the skills that we will need later in the year in the second half . But if u are to single out players today for excellence it has to be sean kelly matt tierney paul conroy. Honourable mention to conor gleeson , eoghan kelly jack glynn, johnny heaney and cathal sweeney

Great performance today. They answered the test of character, players and management alike. We had a few bolters alright, great to see Tierney just grab the game by the scruff of the neck and score like he can. Cathal Sweeney was superb. Gave and bounced out of hits, ran hard, landed lovely scores, particularly in the conditions. McHugh, Daly, Glynn, Conroy and many more stood up. Credit to Gleeson and the lads for clearly putting some extra work in on the kickout strategy, some good, some good fielding, a few bad ones here and there but definitely appears to be making ground here. Still time to get this right for championship. I think a lot of confidence came back today. Now on to Donegal!! The craic will be good.

Neil Mulcahy not involved today. He's had hand surgery. Probably miss the remainder of the league but should be back after that.

When Galway attack teams they are very very impressive. At times in the first half they didn't back themselves but when they did they were excellent.

Thought Eoin Finnerty didn't give us much movement and against the blanket defence he struggled. The changes at half time writhed a treat. Burke had more space and Sweeney ran then ragged. Maybe a little unfair on Finnerty because we were always going to have more room against the breeze

Tactically, in the first half we didn't push up enough. The sight of Morgan running down the clock at walking pace was infuriating. I don't blame him at all. Up to us to force the play. We need to learn from that. If we face the same conditions again what will we do differently?

Overall, very happy after today. Back it up next week and let the lasr couple of league games be championship prep.

A great win i for one coukd not see them scoring 16 points glad I was wrong , conroy did well , but he still has a habit of kicking ball away first 3 kicked away had free early on had option just behind him drove it straight into Tyrone man hands ,,Tierney very good , full forward line 1 point today that's a total of 1 point in 2 matches , need Walsh and Finnerty back against Donegal need prob 3 more points to stay save

Strange you feel the need to run down one of our own but as regards players in "their position" I wouldn't swap John Daly or Dylan McHugh for too much others in the country. Unbelievable half backs that lack very little in their game. They are so consistently strong, fantastic performances like today nearly go unnoticed because its what we expect now from the two lads.

If you read my first post after the game you would have seen how I picked the above mentioned players first...
But if you think Dylan mc Hugh is one of the best in the county only we'll then you don't know your football!
He is in the top 10 wing backs in the country now..

Good win today lads, having seen both in action and the fact we had a more comfortable win over Tyrone I'm not overly surprised Galway at home won. Looking at your remaining games I won't be surprised if you end up in a league final though the last game at home to Kerry could be a decider

I think the only criticism of him could be he doesn't do it often enough, for such a big man. When did we last see him do that.

He was super today, more next week please.

Can someone explain how we have a keeper that can kick a ball 50plus yards against a strong wind and we spend most of our time trying to get short ones away which we are crap at, it's very annoying.

Great to get the win today and good to the teams reaction after Tyrone had pulled it back to 1 point in the 2nd half.

Though Tierney on the stand side and Conroy on the terrace side showed real leadership in winning kick outs around that time. Lot of breaking/dirty ball also won in that period which is a really encouraging improvement.

Think the slower pace for most of the game really helped Conroy have a good influence on it.

Little concerning that Tyrone worked the ball into the D on 4/5 occasions in the 2nd half and only poor handling/wet ball stopped players from pulling the trigger... at the other end we had a couple of players cynically taken out when they got into similar positions.

Good to see Heaney getting praise on here as he worked ferociously hard

McGrath and Sweeney did well coming in and seemed to inject a bit of urgency into our play too.

Tierney played really well and was brilliant to see him shooting with confidence as we were baffled that he kicked backwards with scoreable frees against Mayo and Roscommon.

Lot of other good performances by Daly, McHugh, Glynn, Burke.

Gleeson did well to get a strong punch to a dangerous high ball in the 1st half but his confidence still looks very low to me and as a result he seems very reluctant to come off his line now to offer himself as an extra man in general play.

Big improvement and a great chance to kick on next week against a Donegal side that seems to be low on moral.

The stuff he does off the ball is phenomenal too, as one posted alluded to above he always puts in a massive shift for the maroon and white. There is a reason why he one of the first names on a Galway team sheet even if scoring contribution is minimal some times. Like it or lump it the modern team need workrate as requirement number 1.
