Whatever about Moycullen's transfers, at least this fella has links to Oughterard.

He is living in Galway. People would be giving out if he joined Salthill or a city club.

More power to him and Oughterard.

Move on.

Oughterard is not in the Gaeltacht.
Moycullen is technically in the Gaeltacht but I don't think its widely spoken and would have small percentage of native ( or otherwise) Irish speakers. You need to go further west to hear Irish spoken with any degree of regularity.

Is Cathal Donoghue the u20 All Ireland winning captain for Offaly? Gone to Oughterard?

Maybe that's why Gary O'Donnell and Michael Lundy transferred from Gort and St James to Tuam/Corofin ,can't recall the debate on those!

It is well documented that Gary moved when St Colmans couldn't field. He lined out for Galway minors as St Colmans player. He has big connections with Tuam as he is a first cousin of the Fallons. Lundy's family I believe moved house from the city to Corofin when he was in Primary school, I'd say a 10 year old is allowed move school and clubs. You'd want to fact check before posting. You gave two very poor examples.

Replying To Yondu:  "Team I'd expect Joyce to start against Tyrone

Conor Gleeson
Jack Glynn Sean Kelly Eoghan Kelly
Dylan McHugh John Daly Cathal Sweeney
Paul Conroy Matthew Tierney
Cillian McDaid Peter Cooke Johnny Heaney
Ian Burke Eoin Finnerty Dessie Conneely

A team that contains 9 of the All-Ireland final starters. Eoghan Kelly a more than capable replacement having already played on successful Moycullen and Sigerson cup winning teams. Many was expecting Cathal Sweeney (2020 U20 All-Ireland winner) to have held down a starting spot by now, this his opportunity to do so now.

Cooke, Burke are welcome additions and an impact will be required for both now in the upcoming games. Eoin Finnerty, Dessie Conneely are two of the top scoring club forwards in Galway the next couple of weeks will show if they can bring such form or Div 1 inter County level a step up for them."
Would Eoghan be able to play at 3 and release Sean further up the pitch.

I know you say it's the team you'd expect to start , not necessarily the team you would pick.
But why would you think that management would shift Cillian McDaid from midfield? He is one of our very few successful players in 2023 to date. Yes you could argue that he doesn't play a conventional midfield role , but I would argue that he does more damage with the slightly looser marking that midfielders do compared to half backs and half forwards. So if it's not broken dont try to fix it.
Yes midfield / kick outs need rectification but removing CMcD is not necessarily the solution, and might impact one of our main attacking threats.

McDaids role in the opening two games was interchangeable and popped up as much in the half forward and half back line. Seems to go unnoticed but Tierney drops into midfield.

@Galwayspur yes Eoghan could play at 3 but I'd expect Sean Kelly to be given the man marking role on Darren McCurry or Cathal McShane.

Did GOD transfer or just permission to play. Recollect but maybe wrong that he continued to line out for Gort Hurlers from time to time,

I'd definitely not move mcdaid from midfield I'd put Cooke with him they have to change goalie if they have not sorted kickouts in 3 years it won't happen now , Ian Burke , Eoin Finnerty and Dessie hard see 3 scores from play there Paul kelly same I'm not sure have I seen him actually kick the ball he hand passes it and runs around but actually kicking it not very often I'd say. Max once a match if at all ,,

If you are transferring to a club outside your own county - you don't have to live in the parish of the club you are transferring to.
You just need to reside in that county.
His mother is a sister of Matthew Tierneys dad I believe.

Definitely not a Gaeltacht snob.
Not from the Gaeltacht. Dont speak Irish.
Just quoting facts.
I think there are some historical reasons why Oughterard and Clifden are not part of the Gaeltacht. Something to do with them being old garrison bases years ago ( I stand to be corrected on this).

Ah there are. We have:
Hurling snobs, who go out of there way to belittle the sport of Gaelic football at any opportunity.
Munster hurling snobs, who are a particularly hardline subset of the hurling snobs. They can't see beyond the '5' counties of Munster.
Football snobs, a counter movement to the hurling snobs.
D4 rugby snobs.
League of Ireland snobs.
That's just from a sporting point of view. Snobs abound across all walks of life and all pursuits.
