I don't know how you operate or deal with things but I deal in facts so here we go.His name was put forward he was asked if he was interested he obviously said yes, the list of candidates were shortlisted and all were interviewed, I would take it that would be pretty obvious.Surely in his interview he made his terms of what he wanted to the committee and this was taken on board. They obviously agreed between the hurling and county board that it was acceptable and offered him the job. They would have to be complete fools to offer it to him and not agree with his terms.Everyone on this page is giving out about how long the process is taking and he is the cause of it having to go all the way through the process again. If he said family commitments were his reason and they are not he is not standing up and being straight about it.750k last year to run the county team the highest in the country apart from Tipperary and Limerick who haven't produced their figures yet,so money doesn't seem to be a problem. As to it being an amateur sport is laughable, everybody knows that it is very professional and once you get paid for it you are answerable to Galway hurling.

Surely there are plenty of capable hurling people in Galway This years county championship has been very entertaining and we have alot good young players out there we should not hire an outsider such as Davy or anthony Daly Im not against Clare people in fact they give their own people a Chance Look at what Brian Lohan has done for them . they are playing with pride I think Lynsky could be a good manager He knows all the young Fellows We have at least 5 players that are past their pull date fishpond (Galway) - Posts: 89 - 19/10/2021 17:00:32 2386314 Link 0 |
You deal in facts Then you don't provide any. He doesn't have to answer to anyone if he doesn't take the job. That's a fact for you right there. He can accept it or decline it or walk away at any point. As I said, it's an amateur sport. Amateurs are not answerable in a way that professionals are. Here's another fact for you. 400K was spent on the county team last year. Not 750K as you claim above. The board have said up to 750K was available in the event of qualifying for the final. Possibly a little pedantic but as you're a person who 'deals in facts' I thought you'd appreciate it. Happy to help you. Stool Pigeon (Galway) - Posts: 906 - 19/10/2021 17:33:24 2386326 Link 2 |
Here is a fact for you. What you read in the Clare media about Galway finances is not true, because that is where you got that from, unless they had someone at the cb meeting reporting on it.If 400k was only spent on the county team when in recent years it has been in excess of 1 million it's no wonder we are slipping down the pecking order.

So the manager is answerable to nobody? Come on you are loosing the run of yourself. The top table in a club are answerable to their members,as are the county board to the clubs.Just because they are not paid doesn't mean they can do what they like.

Fair play to K/leitrim. They work so hard for this and they got a bit a luck against turloughmore but they deserve it May the journey continue galwaylads2 (Galway) - Posts: 18 - 19/10/2021 19:09:16 2386347 Link 0 |
Cappataggle, kilnedeema and tommies have all been senior long enough to have shaken off the "intermediate type club" nonsense. And Kilconeiron are in a Q Final on merit. Give those clubs a bit of respect. As stated previously by others, Cappy have been in the previous 4 semi finals, losing by never more than 1 score. I'm sure some of the "traditional clubs" you mentioned would love to have that kind of consistency right now. Considering some of those clubs have been nearer to relegation than knockout hurling in recent times. groundhurlin (Galway) - Posts: 19 - 19/10/2021 19:25:30 2386352 Link 0 |
if Davys has been appointed this is worse than government spilling the restrictions updates to media before announcing it 2 days later. Why hasnt there been a statement from Co Board either announcing or denying instead of holding off until 'Wednesday afternoon' like some have suggested? That's not what I said. Can't you read? I said he can accept the position or decline it and if he declines it he doesn't have to answer to anyone as to why he has done so. Obviously if he accepts the position he is subject to scrutiny like anyone in any job would be. Why is this so difficult for you to understand? Not a fan of the proposed appointment at all but why do the CB have to make any kind of statement in response to idle speculation? I'm sure when there is something to announce, they will announce it. Stool Pigeon (Galway) - Posts: 906 - 20/10/2021 11:29:54 2386392 Link 0 |

I'd be satisfied with just about anyone at this point. It's sad to say that this job which should be among the best of GAA jobs is so hard to fill and turned down by so many good people. I don't care if the person is from Galway or another county I just hope they stumble onto a quality person that does their absolute best. Galway Abu! Davey Fitz? If correct, this is the very definition of insanity. Did they learn nothing after the appointment of Loughnane who was more interested in mind-games and being a media hit than Galway hurling? festinog (Galway) - Posts: 3148 - 20/10/2021 14:57:04 2386453 Link 0 |
Yes it is up on beosport. to be fair, €10 for both games is excellent value despite what hammerings both games COULD throw up!!!! I imagine Kilconieron will go like the Donegal footballers in first half, then 3 weeks on the trot will catch up to them with St Thomass pulling away for a finish. Second game will be tighter

T'wasn't hard to fill. By all accounts MD was interested but sadly whatever circumstance caused him to walk the last time, are still there and resulted in him withdrawing. The fact that Davy Fitz is now being seriously mentioned says all you need to know about what those circumstances might be.

I can't understand where you are going with this.I said Donoghue doesn't seem to be interested and to move on.You have gone on about attending interviews yourself for jobs and you did say that because they are amateurs they are answerable to nobody. If you are employed by the county board you are answerable to that county committee and it's members.Move on will you and by the way there will be news on the appointment this evening and I didn't get that from the Clare echo.

Amazing how certain people are driving all around the country from province to province & county to county, all for the love of the game. Who seriously believes that these people are doing this for a few quid expenses. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 1212 - 20/10/2021 17:27:42 2386500 Link 4 |
