I cant imagine neutral venues for a junior championship? 18 matches per weekend in senior and prem inter i cant imagine co board turning a junior championship in neutral grounds unless the likes of tuam stadium and gort hold the majority of them.

Once again your understanding is incorrect. The restructure came from a motion proposed by Kilbeacanty (not a football club, in case your understanding might have been different) and had nothing to do with promoting hurling in football areas. It was then voted on by all hurling clubs in the county and passed with a vote of almost 70%. It has achieved two things: 1. We have a second tier now which actually represents the second level of clubs in our county, and will allow the 2nd tier winners to represent Galway in the All-Ireland Intermediate championship. The no-man's land Senior B of 8 teams has been removed. We'll have a very competitive and high quality Intermediate championship next year. 2. The third tier Junior championship now consists of first teams only. The issue of other club's second teams playing senior panelists in the first few rounds of Junior games has been addressed by this. It will also give greater visibility to talented players from smaller clubs. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2618 - 07/11/2025 18:29:05 2643425 Link 0 |
