Replying To Corner flag:  "What do we think of Kilbeacanty proposal for 2026 for a 16 team Senior Championship, 16 team Premier Intermediate championship made up of this year's 8 Senior B teams and 8 from Intermediate. The remaining 8 Intermediate plus 8 other Junior teams makes up Intermediate championship.

The winners of Premier Intermediate represent Galway in Intermediate all Ireland series and winners Intermediate represent Galway in Junior All Ireland series."
Great idea. There are too many weak teams playing in senior who havent a chance of winning. It must be very demoralising for them. Better chance of they're in premier intermediate. The senior champ be over quicker also. Give the players a longer break before going back in with Galway. Rest would benefit the senior team no end.

The proposal wouldn't actually change anything in relation to the senior championship. It's 16 teams right now and would remain that way.
The current 8 Senior B teams, who can't play in the senior championship as it stands, would be joined with top 8 teams from the tier below (currently called Intermediate).
So the main change is for them and the teams below that, including second teams of clubs.

It's a daft idea. The 'premiership' should be the top league. 'Premier Intermediate' is a silly contradiction of terms imo.

Whatever happened to Senior, Intermediate and Junior with 16 teams in each? Football tidied up senior and Intermediate to 16 teams this year, and their competitions ran off on perfect schedule, as you'll get with 16 teams in the category.

Replying To Past hurler:  "I think the Wexford match this summer was the finish for Gearoid.

Wexford targeted him with pace big time and he was in big trouble, especially when Rory O Connor ran at him in the second half."
The added problem of course is that when you've ladeens in the half forward line and midfield that can't get a grip on the physical proceedings, or build a fairly steady possession platform, you'll get added pressure on a defense that was admittedly threadbare and over the hill in spots for the duration on 2024.

Can you provide any names? It would be great if there was a formal communication to keep the supporters up to date on who is in for now.

Handy win for Tynagh Abbey Duniry albeit Rathnure made it very easy for them in the end. A silly flick of a hurl at the throw in was a straight red card (the Rathnure player didn't even really protest). Couldn't see what the second red card was for but there was a lot more obvious red that went unpunished for a shoulder straight into the helmet of David Jordan. Paul Killeen and Padraig Brehony had some very classy moments. The final will be a big step up assuming it is the lads from Cork but TAD are competing very well considering they are effectively a junior team in an intermediate competition.

That David Jordan incident wasn't a red. Yellow card all day long. I cannot fathom what the second red card was for

Anyone else see the muck on the footballers thread? I didnt know the football crowd had the knife in the hurlers as much as they do, i said nothing until they started throwing shade on our 1980,87,88 winning teams " played 2 games to win an ireland" jesus that's something a offaly, tipp or clare person would say, didn't expect to hear it within our own county

In what way are they 'effectively a junior team'?

Pure muck. They will always live in the shadow of hurling and they cannot bare it. Wouldnt worry about it too much

He should have said mid-level Intermediate, which is likely what they would be if the 8 Senior B were sorted to Intermediate.
A great win for TAD. I don't think we've had a team so well in this grade since Oranmore.

On paper the 25th best team in Galway beats the 13th best team in Wexford holding the record of the most senior county titles in the county (20). Maybe we are in a better place than we thought we are or maybe it's a reflection on the standard of Wexford club hurling.

U might need to check up on ur history, 9 senior football all irelands to 5 in hurling. Far from living in hurling shadow

Personally I'd prefer a situation where traditional hurling clubs stuck to hurling and traditional football clubs stuck to football. I'd hate if we ended up like Wexford with nearly every club playing both sports but fairly useless at both too.

Id say it is a minority of two or three people from either side of hurling and football taking their debate too far rather than the "football crowd"

And before anyone jumps in with more rubbish, I go to hurling and football games as many do in our area. It's not one against another,we r the same county.

Clowns is all, and we wonder why Galway doesn't win more all Irelands. Always infighting be it in hurling or football. Go down to Cork and see the difference in unity down there. Be it west or north cork they're all cork to the backbone.
Galway and its Connemara is the 33rd county of Ireland. Portumna is Tipperary and anywhere along the Roscommon, Mayo borders are considered in those counties.West and North Galway always clashing in the football. So until that scutter ends there never will be successful Galway hurling or football teams. And that leads to the bile on the football thread.

Could you expand on any current infighting that's hampering the preparation of the senior hurling and senior football squads for the 2025 season?
