Yes that was one of the main reasons for asking Galway to join as KK were so dominant particularly in the noughties. They are still fairly dominant but not as much as they were back then.

Athenry would need a complete revamp on all 4 spectating sides of the field to compete with Pearse Stadium. The pitch would need an upgrade too. It's a 'slow pitch' unlike Duggan Park.

Became an embarrassment to everyone. By 2008 Dublin hadn't won one in nearly 50 years, Waterford hadn't in 50 odd years either, Limerick hadn't in 35 years, Galway in 20 years, Wexford in 12 years, Clare in 11 years. In fact apart from Tipp and Cork the only county to have won one in the 10 years previous was Offaly. Tipp were lucky to win theirs in both the semi and final in 2001 also.

Yeah, and then to pile more hardship and misery on Kilkenny, the powers that be brought Antrim into Leinster. Unfortunately, overall, these additions seem to have diluted rather than enhanced the quality of hurling in Leinster.

The pitch at least should be up to spec now after the drainage works they started almost a year ago which closed the grounds for club championship games for all bar the early rounds.

You can throw the 2001 Munster Final. A blatant free in ignored for Limerick, at the death with the teams level, when David Kennedy lay down on the the ball and Tipp got a point from the 'free out'.

Harte spoke alot of sense. Lynskey was in prime position after minor success to become senior manager but disappointing results at U20 was a big set back. Didn't manage to bridge the gap between underage and adult county at all. A bit rich of him now having a go at the interview process.

I heard Lynsey,sounds like a man with a major gripe..also I see comments on how Eddie o Sullivan was involved in appointing sheflin..are these incidents highlighting bigger problems in Galway?why was eos involved,surely Gaa people would have a better idea of what's needed.. I do always look at ex players and managers and those that spend their time on platforms giving opinions. Would ya go way and coach your u8 team rather than that tripe

The EOS thing is a total red herring, conveying the impression that Shefflin was a bad/misguided appointment. Imo, no manager would get the 2024 Galway squad to an all-ireland semi, let alone any further. Galway have just hung in there a bit too long with the 2017 squad, which was a young talented title winning group. It happens all the time, with teams that win, they wind up staying, and being retained too long. The other side of the coin in Galway's case was that the recent talent off under20 squads hadn't enough to displace 2017 medal holders. Having an independent view of an experienced former international manager and Lions coach seems like a decent idea to me. Clearly EOS wouldn't be giving a view on the hurling aspect but he would have an interesting perspective on what a coaching set up should look like. Lynskey himself was recommending external involvement from different sports earlier on in the same interview . That being said, he did have several good points to make in terms of where we went wrong and who else should be or could be involved. I wouldn't mind seeing Lynskeys name on a future ticket for management

His record at U20 level left a lot to be desired which in fairness he did admit to in the interview also. I would agree with him re S&C from a young age and selection / development of tall, strong, pacy players is now the way to go now ala Cork, Limerick, Dublin etc.

Not an ounce of bitterness just amazement at Galway "supporters" whinging at Leinster referees.We dont here Antrim supporters doing it hence they dont get the constructive criticism.Face facts Galway nearly always are on paper All Ireland contenders and nearly always fail.
