Ah will you stop Cork are always beatable as are Clare and Wexford. We are on a par with Kilkenny but behind a generational Limerick team whos panel is very strong. Cork my arse. PancakeWard (Galway) - Posts: 86 - 14/04/2023 20:23:21 2471027 Link 3 |
It might be your humble opinion. but it's completely inaccurate nonsense imo.

U20 Hurlers came up short against Kilkenny 5-20 to 3-19. Hard luck lads. Congratulations Kilkenny. Trump2020 (Galway) - Posts: 2282 - 15/04/2023 16:29:01 2471088 Link 0 |
Was complete nonsense ever accurate?

We did indeed beat the Cats in last year's championship. You'd have to be holidaying in North Korea not to remember the wall-to-wall coverage of 'that' handshake.

Saw Alan Kerins championship team for the game against Wexford. Maroonforever (Galway) - Posts: 414 - 15/04/2023 21:38:14 2471119 Link 1 |
Ha ha ha. The HANDSHAKE got more coverage than the match did.

That's a fair team but I could have picked 14/15 of that team before a ball was pucked this year. Not knocking the team at all but is it a worry more pressure hasn't come on from the rest of the panel… Unless Darren Morrissey is injured I'd imagine he's nailed on to start? Thought he'd be one of the first names on the team sheet tbh tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 16/04/2023 08:12:27 2471132 Link 0 |
I too think that assessment is a little dramatic to be honest. Having said that, your recent record suggests wexford aren't that easily beaten Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3266 - 16/04/2023 08:41:11 2471137 Link 0 |
We haven't beaten them since 96 and haven't really looked like beating them either, snatched2 draws in recent years (last years controversial Conor Cooney free game) but there's a been a fair few hammerings given out to us as well in Championship. I'd always be more confident in playing Kilkenny than Galway the last 6 years.... beating Galway or a Munster team is something we haven't been able to do at all and we won't go far without doing either. Can't be relying on beating Kilkenny to save the year every year. I'd imagine Galway would be fairly strong favorites to win this game if everyone is back. Cathal Mannion is a huge plus if he's back. Hopefully it's a good competitive game now. I know Salthil (and Wexford park) usually turn games into games dominated by whoever has the wind so here's hoping the winds and rain stay away for once. Everyone seems to be forgetting about Shane Cooney who is a very solid centre-back. I know he hasn't played too much due to injury in the last year or so but surely he has recovered at this stage unless there was a setback or does anyone here know what the status is re that injury?

Galway never beat Wexford in championship before 2010, which would likely explain why Wexford will be 'favorites' for Saturday's clash on Salthill. Galway never beat Waterford in championship either, before the 2017 final. Just shows you that Galway are still relative newcomers to even moderate success at this intercounty senior hurling crack.

We'll again, nothing like a long layoff to enhance the reputation. You'll convince the people with short memories, for starters.

He was a solid player but perhaps seeing that it is over 2 years ago that he played for Galway you have since sadly passed on to your eternal reward your Holiness so its very "short memories" for you now at this stage! lol

Wouldnt agree that we are favourites for Saturdays game . We have shown no form to deserve the that tag.

They must be 2 of lowest scoring grounds that host major hurling games!

Galway have to be favourites. I know you didn't beat us last year in League or Championship but we have had a very disrupted campaign to date this year and you won handy in the Park back a few months ago.

I assume you mean championship? Two draws could have gone either way to be fair. With the exception of that game in 2010 there's little between us but would have Galway slight favourites Doylerwex (Wexford) - Posts: 3266 - 17/04/2023 13:37:16 2471375 Link 1 |
Tbh 2017, 2018 and 2020 werent close games either Doylerwex. 2019 I thought we were the better team, and last year despite not playing at all for 50 minutes we still got a draw.
