I know teams dont think like this and you're judged on championship but for four of the Munster teams their most realistic chance of silverware is in the league so it would be refreshing if a team went all out from here on in to win the league. A final is a final once you get there. The reality of it is you might never win a Munster/All Ireland medal.
Its 2016 since Tipp won Munster, 2010 since Waterford and 1998 since Clare won it. Thats a lot of current players with no senior championship medal in their pocket (albeit the All Ireland for Tipp and Clare but I think my overall point still stands).
So why not go out and win the league?"
And you were the one claiming that Tipp's 2019 all-ireland had credibility, after being lit up in the Munster Final.

Not alone is your grammar faulty but your facts are wrong too. He got a second yellow in the last four minutes of the game, there was no suspension!

Ya no credibility at all. We only beat Clare, Cork, Limerick Waterford, Laois, Wexford and Kilkenny in the championship in 2019. The 2019 team are highest scoring championship team ever but of course an All Ireland winner only gains credibility if they beat Galway along the way.
Do you think another 4 years will see you get over it?

I would not overplay the win over Limerick. If you leave off Lynch (reigning and twice Hurler of The Year), Mulcahy (probably his closest challenger in '18), Hannon, a four times All Ireland Winning Captain and Hegarty, the top scorer from play in three All Ireland Finals, you are all but handing the game to the opposition, and especially if ypu are playing Tipp in Thurles.. That selection was absolutely ridiculous and I could never understand why Kiely allowed it. Among other things, it was grossly to other counties playing in the Munster Championship. I appreciate Limericks; Management hugely, but they were wrong that day.

What have we got to get over? If Tipp had beaten us on the way it may have taken us a few months to get over it but since ye didn't there's no bother in the world. Fair play to ye for winning it! At least we used to have a decent game of hurling, not the soccerised, pass the parcel type game that is played these days.

Comment was addressed at one poster only. I didnt lose any sleep over Galway winning in 2017 as Tipp were poor all year that year so i dont expect Galway people to be upset over Tipp in 2019 - apart from Popey tho whos still bringing it up!

I watched the Laochra Gael programme on Liam Sheedy last night, lovely programme. Nice to see the human story, the sadness along with the gladness in all of these programmes. Quite moving.

Not overplaying it but just stating for the original poster that all the evidence points to the best team winning the All Ireland in its current format. People forget that Tipp had a complete back up/patched up of a full backline in that Munster final also and none of them were part of the All Ireland winning team - the full back line was demolished that day. In the All Ireland the full back line didnt concede one score so an argument could be made for both Tipp and Limerick games but it doesnt fit with some peoples narratives!
No other team came close to the win % Tipp had in 2019 (7 from 8) and a scoring rate of an average of 31 points across the 8 games - two records that arent too bad at all!

I havent got to see it myself yet to be perfectly honest and despite coming across him plenty at club level I wasnt aware of that side of it. Laochra Gael is brilliant - football or hurling.

An AI is an Al, whatever ifs, buts, or ands anyone tries to attribute to it. The most important fact of 2019 is that Tipp were crowned champions that year, and fully deserving of it. I'd attach genuine credibility to that win, especially considering what Limk have gone on and done since!

Another 4 years???? We'd be so lucky. It might actually take this crowd more like 40 years to get over it. I still hear them bleating about Tipp's win in 1989. They remind me of the Hannibal Lecter line in The Silence of the Lambs, "Can you still hear them bleating, Clarice?"

The League is a great thing to win especially if you have young players or players that are on their way out the door. Not everyone can win the All Ireland so the League is sometimes more realistic.

Just watched the '22 AIF there last night; what a splendid game of fast open Hurling as was the AISF and the Munster Final; nothing at all wrong with the Modern Game. In fact looking back at games played ten or twenty years ago it is clear to be seen that skill levels, fitness levels, athleticism etc, etc, etc are way down on the present performances at every level. Thankfully the game has moved on and there is no future in the past.

There is always a kick in Wexford especially when they play in Cork.......so if they manage to beat Cork and We do the job in Ennis it will make the last games very interesting because I'm definitely expecting Clare to beat Cork and We could make up the score difference v Westmeath!!
But it's pivotal for us that Wexford beat Cork this Weekend
