Just a start so Kerry folk can discuss club and county on this site. Obviously others who might be interested feel free to comment too.

I fear the wums may have actually won and are drilling nails into the HS site.

The retirement of county threads maybe be the closing of the lid, I can understand if certain counties were non active but surely the active and well visited and contributed sites should remain.

Having one county heading to post in is not ideal and topics range from season to season but it's better than nothing.

It's sad on the historical posts and information, as well as the friendly interaction and respect that I fear may be lost forever.

I'm sorry but I've no intention of being on the main forum anymore. A county Kerry thread on it will become overrun by the usual Dublin WUMS and their lackies - at least being off in our own corner gave some protection from that.

They'll destroy every discussion on here and it will go the way of any topic on the main forum itself.

It sucks this has come to pass and the way it was done - so suddenly with no warning, is a kick in the teeth to posters from all over the country who kept their own forums going for years.

So thanks to Horse, Kingdomboy, the two Gerry's, Kerry 15 and most of the rest for all the chats and debates down the years. I've really appreciated your great knowledge and insights on all things Kerry GAA which was always so much more than my own.

I think its about time I moved on to another Kerry forum - maybe a few of ye might join me there as fellow refugees :)

All good things, as the bard said ...

That's it horse, I used to love reading through old threads on the Kerry page and see the contributions from older posters who are no longer with us, why couldn't they leave the pages for historical purposes.

We had a great forum, and you'd rarely have days where there wouldn't be a lot of posts on it.

While I didn't always see eye to eye with everyone on the Kerry forum, I thought it was a great forum. Surely it was as active as Cavan and Meath. And I see you'd only quite recently resurrected the thread about what football will be like in 2030. I'd read through a lot of the posts on that thread, and am annoyed now that I'm not going to get to finish reading them. I found that thread quite interesting. It was started and finished (but for your resurrection) before my time on HS.

Let me know where you're going the hermit and ill see if the wife will setup an account for me, hopefully the 2 Gerrys Kerry15 Chicago Mick Aidan64 Kerry2015 and horse and any1 else that I forgot will all join us there, I'd hate to lose contact with ye after all these years.

It's a disaster, with all the talk of improving the hoganstand forum never was removing county forums mentioned by any1, it was the 1 good thing that it had going for it.

There was loads of little threads like that probably on every county forum and it was great to see what people were thinking at a certain period in time, all of that is gone by the wayside now.

Like I say if they could have kept the county forums as an archive even if we couldn't post on them anymore they were nice to look back on all the same.

I joined the Kerry Gaa Forum, was tempted to use a different username but sure horsebox77 is horsebox77... I'll read a post now some day by an unknown poster dvocating for Jack to ring Anthony Maher to fill the centre back slot... and I'll be thinking, surely that's K'boy...

If we are defecting, keep the same names...

Ah Gerry wums can go on any forum but it's our own choice whether we want to engage or not. I find most posters try to be honest(we might not agree but that's life).

Yes Horse, I've been reading (but not contributing) to the official Kerry forum for a few years now. And I noticed a Horsebox appearing lately ;D

I setup an account myself last night and might introduce myself over the weekend. Maybe we can create a little ex-HS corner while we integrate.

Kingdomboy it is a pretty simply process, more or less the same as registering on here so your missus should have no trouble showing you.

It won't be the same and I'll miss the intimacy (if that's the right word!!) of our little forum.

But anything is better than being on this main forum - its long since been destroyed by WUMs and multiple account posters - Jimbo, username, catch 22, that paranoid lunatic that thought I was stalking him on here all summer :D etc etc etc

Ah well, on the bright side at least I'll not have to suffer scrolling through the posts of the Dublin exile and his American cousin on the Kerry page anymore! Or the senile insults after they had one too many :D

Actually, on reflection, that's exactly it, sounds daft. I often described HS to my better half as an online version of five or six lads having a football chat in the pub, although we are the bones of a decade hopping and slagging each other we actually half know each other even though we never met.
.
I wouldn't say smaller fish in a bigger pond but ya, I joined the kerry forum years ago but rarely posted, when I posted initially, there was a snide reaction by one to "HS must be offline" but, I choose to ignored opposed to engage.

Still at least that Avenue is open to us, I will miss HS but unless they revert to type, like you I will be defecting and closing my HS account.

K'boy, as Hermit said, it's actually easier to create the account with the Kerry gaa forum than HS, also posts appear immediately and can be edited. As for the participants, similar to us, some long term lads, guaranteed most of them also read or posted on HS so may be interesting.
