Replying To twbm:  "As a Wexford lad living in Clare, I love their fanatical supporters but im very surprised to hear lots in Clare are so confident / arrogant that they're not going to the match on Saturday instead are waiting for the Semi final with some even waiting for the final against Limerick ha!
I have my Wexford flag proudly on display here in Clare since the first round of the Championship. I think we'll bring a massive 'purple and gold' army to Thurles and here's hoping for a great game.. Sure we're only going up to make up the numbers anyhow, by all accounts ;)"
As a Clare lad living in Clare, I think you are stirring with your comments. No one in Clare is taking the quarters for granted.

Yes, we feel we have a better than 50/50 chance to win this game but in this game if you are not firing on a given day you will be put to the sword. I go to all matches and so do my friends and no one is talking about semis or finals and if your contacts are i'm sure its only to get a rise out of you.

Now I know there are lads here who want to create a perception that Clare lads only think we have to turn up and Wexford are being scoffed at and I can tell you thats not true. You are respected and we know if we dont bring our A game there is a good chance we ill be beat.

Replying To beano:  "I knew it was a common trait in our game, but I looked back at the scoring stats across our six games so far, and our backs have collectively scored twenty points from play. That is insane, and could be the difference if the game is tight, considering Clare wouldn't have the same output from back there. In fact, the only side to have had such a scoring ratio from their defence is Limerick, who hit 6 from play from that sector vs. Cork alone.

As for the game itself, I would presume Damien Reck will pick up Kelly. If his brother was fully fit, he'd be the designated marker but considering he has so little hurling under his belt up to now, Damien will have the unenviable task, although I would hope he has a license to burst forward whenever he can. I would put MOH on David Fitzgerald who has added a scoring touch to his towering frame. MOH will be able for him physically. I'd maybe throw Paudie onto Shane O'Donnell, and provided Duggan is suspended, Jippo can go on Ryan Taylor. I hope Dee O'Keeffe is fully fit as I'd have him follow Galvin everywhere- the latter does a lot of untold work for the Banner.

At the other end, instead of trying to match Conlon in the air with a Jacko or Chin, I'd actually place Mogie on him and test his defensive acumen. He is a converted centre-back after all and Mogie seems to win a few frees in every game. Jacko can battle it out with McInerney (who seems to take the bigger men on the opposition)- that could bring fireworks as both players are fiery.

It's meant to be a continuation of the warm weather (although who knows with Met Eireann), so I'd like us to let the ball do the work occasionally- it'll be nigh-on impossible to play the running game for the entire 70-odd minutes. Our freetaking and general shooting must be in the 90+ percentile if we are to stand a chance. But do you know what? I have seen so many teams put in a monumental shift one day and be flat the next (a familiar trait with us unfortunately), and I am banking on us to be fresher if it is in the balance down the home straight. There is no side-show this year either which always helps.

Up Wexford."
Think I'd put someone smaller and faster on SOD than Paudie. Think I'd have Dee operating in a deeper midfield role and picking up Taylor and have Devitt or Donohue marking Galvin and put Kevin Foley on Conlon. Other than that pretty much agree Beano.

Replying To Punter72007:  "I am glad that Clare have a full compliment to play us.
They have no "them against us" or "we have been wronged" narrative to get their lads super motivated.
I do genuinely want Wexford to beat a full Clare team, so there's no excuses on either side.

As an aside, there's something wrong with the system when incidents like this happen, which are red cards and players get off.
It sends the wrong message to everybody that you can get away with breaking the rules.
This is not the ref's/umpires fault for missing the incidents because the game is so fast and there's so many moving parts.
This is not RTE/Sunday games fault either because they have the "technology" and "time" to do the video analysis that highlights the red card incidents.

However, it is the GAA's fault that there isn't a citing/review mechanism that does not have any technical loopholes.
Rugby has it, so why can't the GAA have similar?
In a era, where the GAA have got so much right ... it is glaring issue that happens nearly every year and it should be tidied up.

Finally, I do believe Wexford can beat Clare ... I think the longer Wexford are in the game, the better for Wexford.
Subs coming in will make a difference. And this year, like never before, we have developed a subs bench.
Wexford by 2.
Up Wexford!"
Whole system is a joke. The 3 lads shouldn't have been cited in the 1st place being as no-one got hurt really. Yes they should've been sent off at the time. But when the final whistle blows I think only incidents where there is a badly hurt victim, or a situation of simulation to deceive the referee should carry any retrospective punishment.

Really can't see Kevin Foley starting on Saturday. I would play Flood. He has a lot of pace and can score. Kevin looks a bit lightweight and against a big physical side like Clare i honestly don't see him making an impact. I base that on his form to date.
Surely Paul Morris will make an appearance at some stage. He's always worth a few points and has the experience.
The management and team won't need us to tell them that a good start and
massive intensity will be a major requirement.
Clare will no doubt bring loads of physicality and they have that man called Kelly.
Reck is his likely marker and i would have confidence in him to do a job. Not easy of course as TK is such a good player.

Hoping for one of those rousing Wexford performances on Saturday. Forget about the suspensions, I am sure Colm Lyons might have it in the back of his mind. Wexford are a disciplined team and have had no red card this year that I can remember. Lets hope the referee does his job now. Colm Lyons loves his whistle so he'll cut out a lot of the dark arts.
We need a game akin to our 2019 peak to win but no reason we can't deliver.
I think Chin will need to be in the half forward line and if we get enough ball in to McDonald and ROC, I think we can win this. It depends which Wexford show up though. The one v Kilkenny will, the one v Dublin/Galway/Westmeath will get a hiding. It probably shows the value of Chin.
Is Shane Reck near fit?

Think Dwyer probably closest to a start apart from these unless Shane Reck is fully fit.

Good read Wex98. Hopefully Shane will get a good run injury free for a few years now.

He did, but that was stupid frustration rather than dirty or dangerous play at the end of a game that was long since in the bag.
There is a world of difference.
Seems to be huge interest in the game. A load from our club going and I heard of busloads from other clubs. The army is mobilised, as an immigrant I will be cheering loudly for my adapted county.
A win tomorrow, and I might refer to Wexford as "we" for the rest of the summer. Until the Dubs are back in action.
In the meantime, UP WEXFORD. There, I said it.
Enjoy the game.

I also came across a video on YouTube of Tom Dempsey singing The Purple and Gold. A rousing rendition on with Colm Parkinson. Apart from being one of the nices people involved in Wexford GAA, I never suspected he was such a singer.

Pretty certain it was for 2 yellows otherwise he could have appealed it by claiming that the hurley technically slipped from his hand! Think we've a great chance tomorrow.

Dee on the bench, hopefully whatever knock he is carrying isn't too serious and he can make an impact at some stage.

Weather looks like it's going to hold up well, here's to a cracking day of hurling. Up wexford

Dee is a huge loss. Hopefully he will be sprung from the bench at some point.
We really need Jacko and Kevin Foley to up their game. Team looks very strong and if we bring our A game to Thurles today and if everyone contributes then we could find ourselves in an all ireland semi final.
Let's go for it lads. With heart and hand.
