Move To National Forum Only Model

Replying To supersub15:  "Me thinks it's a little bit more than that.?

The National forum is no longer user friendly, as time goes on it will get more cumbersome to use. Topics are moving fast on the home page in fact some have moved on to the second page at speed. Even though the National forum wasn't overly inviting to all and sundry never the less everyone knew they could potter around on their own county forum at ease and if they wished.

It now appears as if everyone is cooking in the one kitchen and we are tripping over one another searching for our individual post, yesterday I posted a couple of lines to KillingFields (Limerick) asking if he was behind all this and could he get it reversed, (all in jest) but it didn't get through. Personally I don't think this new way of doing things here is going to work out, either it will be reversed or the plug will be pulled, admin are monitoring posters opinions, satisfaction / dissatisfaction all of this will be processed and evaluated fiscally and plan B will be activated accordingly.

It matters not who runs the Hoganstand.com business, at the end of the day the GAA have total ownership over all matters that are GAA related with patented / copyrights, etc, etc. therefore the GAA are making money out of this too, so it wouldn't be in their interest to see Hoganstand.com cease or discontinue."
At the end of the day its an internet forum, its choice whether you stay or interact or just dont.

No point cribbing in my opinion, its a free online community you can be part of or not.

If lads were throwing in 20 yoyoo each to keep the place going i could understand some of the demands and outrage. But its not, its free and we are guests by choice.

Ive been involved with some sites like this and generally its run by lads that have an interest (probably from Meath & Cavan) in the subject as a pastime and hobby and run these places voluntarily as a hobby or side gig and more often and not at a cost to their own time and finances. What are we contributing to justify demands froma resource point of view.

I know the cost both time and finance of keeping the lights on in these places, can be quite significant. I wouldn't like to admining or moding up to 35 odd forums as a pastime or maintaining the news feed.

People with their knickers in a twist, could probably do with a break away from here anyway if it means that much to them to be honest.

Its not the end of the world.

Just create your county related thread on the main page, instead of having to go to your county page.

If half a dozen people from Longford want to discuss their junior championship then they can do this on the related thread on the main page.

Like I said before. The reaction to this is totally OTT. Some of you guys really need to get out more."
"Just create your county related thread on the main page, instead of having to go to your county page."

The problem this is that main page will become clogged with county pages (look at it now). Some posters have set-up separate football, hurling, intermediate and junior topics
It will become a mess, with general interest topics hard to find.

I said that yesterday too but I was lit on for suggesting that the local club agm forum etc might be well able to go into a one size fits all thread. Tis pure hysteria.

As I mostly read/comment on the UK forum, this is a bit disappointing as threads about London will invariably get lost. Twas a handy place to find out a bit of London sceal and gossip. That will probably be the end of that. Ah well

Would people be happy to pay a small monthly subscription fee to keep the site as it was, if that's the case.
I know a lot of older gaels use it as a way to have some banter and talk, men who aren't on twitter or Instagram etc.

Its a free service so maybe its about time a small subscription could keep things going

Replying To TheHermit:  "Disgraceful, esp considering you gave posters absoultely no warning this was due to happen before the county forums were deleted sometime yesterday afternoon. Yesterday morning the Kerry forum was as active as ever. Everyday there are multiple posters on there like myself posting there. In fact it is far more active then the two county forums you have left operating.

Most of the posters on the Kerry forum, like myself, have been posting on it for 8,9,10+ years. We kept it alive and going all that time. The fact you couldn't even have the decency to tell us in advance and let us say goodbye to each other or try and find another home is shocking. A lot of long time posters would have developed friendships etc over the years.

I personally made the decision to leave the main forum at the start of 2021. Now the Kerry forum is gone I'll be moving on completely.

So best of luck to (most) posters on here."

It's to do with granularity and coherence. Is it workable to have a single thread dealing with the new County manager, balkyduffs agm, the fight at the intermediate semi final, the County minor team and the state of the centre for excellence?

It would be impossible to follow all those threads. Hence the need for multiple, categorised topical threads.

I cannot access my own account at the moment but people will know me a macca999. Anyway, I come on here to express my outrage. My hair may have fallen out, my teeth may have fallen out, I may at times fallen out with some arrogant Gaa supporters but this is by far the biggest fallout I have had and the damage is going to be huge to hoganstand in terms of viewership. You have now pulled the rug from not only our Fermanagh forum but nearly all of rural Ireland where many gas folk found it a useful channel to express their views on local football and at times criticise the gas is it was warranted...maybe that was one of the reasons that you now deny us if our voice? I not on the other stuff like Facebook nor am I twit if that the term for those social media crowd so I'm like thousands of others are going to lose out on discussing a sport that I have been so passionate about all my life. I hope your plan fails and the county forums returned immediately.

I think this is what is bothering a lot of people. If they were getting rid of the county forum model to concentrate solely on the national forum then some what fair enough but the fact they kept two county forums and as you state one is not that busy it just seems to have rubbed a lot of people up the wrong way. The way it was done just deleting everything overnight without any warning was very poorly executed.

1. Who authorised the the retirement of almost all the county forums?
2. Was there any consultation with the users of the county forums? If not, why not?
3. Why were two of the county forums retained?
4. Was there an equality impact assessment done?
5. Have there been any consumer rights broken that are applicable in both parts of this island by such action?
6. Finally, I assume that the GAA HQ paid for the administration of this Hoganstand platform from monies raised from GAA supporters nationwide so does that not entitle those supporters to have a say on this matter?"
The forum moderators and website management authorised the removal of all the other county forums
Judging by reaction of all posters there was no consultation done
Who knows why 2 countys were allowed keep forums
No consumer rights have been broken. how would they be?
GAA HQ have nothing to do with hoganstand

Yes it will turn into a total mess anyone with a bit of a cop on should realise that. Just create your own related thread doesn't solved anything.

And the USA/Canada one was very handy also. I don't think a lot of thought was put into this before the plug was pulled.

You just get different moderators for different forums.
Like you have someone different moderating the county forums to national forum. or you put in different forums like hurling forum. gaelic forum. competition format forum. third level/inter county minor/u21 forum.
