Ah, am just having a bit of fun here. We're flexible about it too, when needs be. So much so that another of the leading makers here in Wexford actually has "hurleys" rather than "hurls" in his website URL and on his web pages. Must be to try pick up sales from Munster men who are more uptight than we are, and who'd refuse to buy a "hurl" rather than a "hurley". But go in to talk to him, and he'll use the world "hurl" all right. Then again, maybe he'd say "hurley" if a Munster man went in. Know your audience, and all that! He's at https://www.brianwalshhurleysandsports.ie/ He's the one of choice for many of the lads in my own club, and I know that a fair few inter-county players with Wexford and other counties use him too. Kingpuck if i was you i'd stay away from any serious issues, you damn near started WWIII over Hurl/Hurley. The main thing though, did you get a satisfactory answer to your question?

The GAA official website calls them 'hurleys', but what would they know.

Hurls vs hurleys. Why does anyone even care about this stupid debate? Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1942 - 02/10/2021 19:37:17 2384188 Link 0 |
Must have been a Munster person who wrote that. Pity they didn't get somebody to proof read. :)

Higgins Hurls in Galway is top quality. Check out his instagram at H Sports. Excellent quality ash and an expert at copying different styles as per the request. Personally use Canning's shape but their ash is poor quality (imported). Cannings style and Higgins ash is my preference anyway! Jordan hurls were great. Blitzkrig (Fermanagh) - Posts: 40 - 18/11/2021 10:33:07 2389825 Link 1 |
Declan Barron from Wexford makes a very good hurl, and he uses irish ash which seems to last longer than the hurls from the mass producers who use imported ash which is usually dry by the time it arrives in Ireland. Brian_Coyote (Antrim) - Posts: 346 - 07/02/2022 16:41:57 2399044 Link 0 |
