All Ireland Final Ticket Levying And Club Allocations

(Oldest Posts First)

Are there rules around ticket levying by county boards in all ireland finals.
I know this was discussed by the GAA some years back.
Also, is there any rules around what percentage of a counties allocation is supposed to go to the clubs in that county.

Don't think so! In Galway, football clubs got nearly the same amount of tickets for the hurling finals as the hurling clubs. It was way harder to get tickets in the hurling part of the county. Plus the county board officials also had plenty to look after their own friends.

The above is from a from a few years ago but not much change since...No rules on how a county board allocates tickets to the clubs but in Dublin clubs are divided into tiers. Tier 1 contains the biggest clubs, tier 2 the medium-sized and tier 3 are the smallest. The county board allocates clubs on the basis of the number of teams they field but that metric more or less equates to membership numbers in most cases.

Don't think counties got that mang tickets when Donegal were playing in finals a few years back. Think our county got around 13000. In our case, tickets were allocated based on the number of members each club had, and almost all paid up members got tickets then. Didn't matter how many county players the club had or anything else.

I'm going to guess the "county allocations" includes the counties in the minor final, plus the tickets that all the non-competing counties get as well, not necessarily just the 2 teams in the senior final.
