Davy Fitz been the gentleman he is, has stated if Donoghue wants the Galway job he won't stand in his way. katser (Galway) - Posts: 2229 - 15/09/2021 21:13:52 2380992 Link 1 |

Fair play to Davy. He's a hurling man first and foremost and Galway need "somebody" so…..

Big news from Limerick with M. Kiely moving away. I could be grasping at straws but these people are key to Limericks success. Their backroom team is highly coveted now across a number of sports. tiobraid (Tipperary) - Posts: 4119 - 17/09/2021 10:02:30 2381255 Link 0 |
Hard to know if this is a good move or not, as it rarely seems to work a manager going back to his old job. Not sure either if O'Donoghue is the most tactically astute manager out there, it may be only four years ago since he won an All Ireland with Galway, but back then a lot of Galway's tactics seemed to revolve around lumping high balls down on top of Johnny Glynn, and their other big forwards. Limerick have brought hurling to a completely new level with their incredible skill levels, retainment of possession, moving the ball seamlessly between the lines, constant turnovers, so it's a big ask if this is something that O'Donoghue can bring to Galway?

Totally deal defeatist loser mentality from me I know but I don't think it matters whose managing where for the next few seasons. Limerick will be on top for another couple of years at least Galway9801 (Galway) - Posts: 1726 - 17/09/2021 13:52:50 2381309 Link 0 |
I don't know how Galway are going to be but we are going to have a say in that. Great team but no divine right to win and they would be the first to say so.

I will agree about 2018 to some extent. But the round robin system did not suit plus the replays. If it was the same system as 17 and today I think they could have won alot more. Donohue won't come back imo. The higher powers in Galway county board will be the reason but I'm sure he will say work commitments and the like as being his reason. The top table need to be got rid of, they are not fit for the job and are making things harder rather than easier! ecad123 (Galway) - Posts: 272 - 19/09/2021 13:55:38 2381601 Link 1 |
The chairmans 5 year term is due to end in a couple of months so no reason why MD cant come back then as according to reports at the time it was issues between them that led to his resignation previously. Its the usual social media narrative to say that "the top table need to be got rid of". There are some good people on the county board.....who would you replace them all with? The clubs county delegates choose them. If they are all so bad then the clubs themselves have a lot to answer for. Maybe you should team up with other keyboard warriors on FB and other social media and put your own names forward and have a coup.

No smoke without fire as they say! I don't doubt that yes of course there are good people , but all that was found in that audit in 19 cannot be overlooked and forgotton. Yes the clubs do have alot to answer also I agree. But Sure listen we may as well let them all in again why not.

I think Davy didn't want it to become "all about him"....you know how he is.

It's time he minded the ticker! It should all be about his health in fairness.

Any news on a new Galway hurling manager, wonder what's the reason for the delay, are there many applicants for the job? ONdeDITCH (Limerick) - Posts: 873 - 27/09/2021 19:53:46 2383236 Link 1 |
Was the same last time when SON ended up being appointed. The delay led to all the rumours of unrest and disinterest in the job for a variety of different reasons.

It's Galway we are used to it! I think the nominations are in now. But no idea who is in the running. It probably won't be a big name. Can't see Micheal Donohue taking it so it could be Jeff linskey or the minor manager.

And the appointment confirmed all the rumors.
