the lack of info and time taken so far tells me they're struggling to get anyone suitable for the role interested.

Exactly!!

Square B who would you suggest for the job. Remember the person has to also be interested.

I wish the Co Board well in this search as it is a crucial apointment.

I've already said but obviously he's not interested. At this rate we'd be better off with a local mgt team. Even some of the people managing club teams in Leitrim would be stronger options to consider.

Kevin Walsh the latest name to be linked with Leitrim Job. I'd be very happy with that.

So Andy has intercounty experience and if he got the job I for one would be delighted. He is a very positive guy, know the levels of S&C required, he knows the modern game."
Jimmy Sloyan wouldn't be a credible source. Even Kathy in the pub knows this.

I'd be happy enough as well seeinv it's becoming clear that Padraic Davis is not interested. I see Andy Moran was interviewed for the Longford job. God bless their wit.

Kevin Walsh would be very good if it is true. He's a coach type manager. He left both Sligo and Galway in better places than he found them. I'd say he's the type that would be in it for the long hall as well.

From what I know both Andy Moran and Kevin Walsh have been interviewed by the county board amongst others. Now both of these names could also be in for other jobs such as Longford. There is also talk that Shane Curran is also being touted after losing out for the Fermanagh job - He has a very impressive backroom team with him if he gets the job.

I like the idea of both Walsh and Moran for completely different reasons. When I look into it I feel like Walsh is the one who will suit our selection of players and our inadequacies the most. He is a brilliant coach especially on the defensive side of the ball. This is the area where we have really struggled over the past few years as our scoring rates and forwards available are excellent.
If anybody doubts Walsh's knowhow they should read his excellent book. Its a brilliant tool for any coach.

New blood is needed especially pace but it does look like there's a few starting to break through. Mark Diffley looks like he has filled out and moved up a level along with one or two of the much talked about Carrick young lads. The Harkins and Jordan Reynolds for Mohill also look superb albeit in a dominant team. These along with the likes of Ciaran Cullen can bring a freshness to things.

Remember the only players 27 or over on the panel the last few years are Paddy Maguire, Aidan Flynn (stepped away), Shane Moran, Shane Quinn, and Donal Wrynn and Domhnaill Flynn (retired). Its not perfect but a good base of our players have got decent S&C over the past 3 years and if it is stepped up it should have an impact.

Mark Plunkett has been consistently been our best player for the past few years and Keith Beirne is having an extraordinary club championship. If O'Rourke and Heslin can get themselves right and Darragh Rooney can finally fulfill his promise then we have an excellent forward line.

I do think we need to be exhausting all avenues in regards to the 'Family rule' in Dublin especially on the defensive end where we are short - especially when it comes to Centre back and the full back line

The real worry comes is f these appointments fall through and we don't get a manager of sufficient quality then the rumored exodus of players could actually happen.

Has there been any mention or rumour with Darcy at all? Understudy to 6 in a row manager and would certainly get buy in from lads being last captain to win anything with Leitrim. Certainly a better option than Andy Moran who has very little experience and would be a huge gamble outside of the S&C aspect that I do believe he would be strong on.

Failing Darcy, would be great to see Kevin Walsh given he was fit to take Sligo from Division 4 to 2 and probably would've had a run at Connacht at some stage if it wasn't for the controversy with O'Hara distracting from things. Also did a good job with Galway bringing them from a period in the doldrums (by their standards) back up to being in the conversation at the top table.

I see Longford brought out a statement distancing themselves from Andy Moran and won't appoint a manager till November. So on that basis I'd say if Moran is offered the Leitrim job he might take it incase he falls between 2 stools and gets none. I'd also be happy with Walsh. Moran a small bit unknown but so was Jim McGuninness at one stage.

Kevin Walsh would be a brilliant hire for Leitrim if they get him. Surprised he is the mix

Improved Sligo a lot when he was there and also added lot of steel to galway where they generally had Mayos number on his watch, Galway are a shambles now under joyce by comparison

At the very least, he will sort that defence out

The word on the street now is that Walsh has hitched his pony to the Kildare trap. Good luck to him, at least he'll have a day or two in Croke Park out of them.
We actually need a manager who can explain and demonstrate the rudiments of defending to our lads. No point in putting up big scores from our alleged hot-shot forwards if we're conceding more at the other end.
Will those in charge factor this in, not a chance. They're huddled down looking at the money in the biscuit tin and wondering whom they'll seduce at the minimum cost. Do we expect anything else? I, for one, don't think so.

100% agree. I don't expect big money to be spent.
