I think you are right. We cant compete at the moment so things cant get much worse.

What is going on with the S & C in the county? Why are we not producing athletes? It's a huge worry, the modern game is all about PACE AND POWER and we are always way off the pace."
Good point, too many butty men in Leitrim.

nothing yet anyway, imagine they are in no panic as none of the top candidates would have a lot of interest, as stated a few times no manager could bring anything to the table in the short term it would be a 5-10 possibly 20 year job building from the ground up, trying to build top down will not work, sooner there are tiered competitions and a realistic chance of getting somewhere the better

Davis said when he stepped down from
Longford he wanted a break so I can't see him taking the Leitrim job .

Leitrim have finally put a committee in place to find a new manager. Hopefully John McKeown & Dermot Renoylds can can persuade a an exciting manager to come on board. Any potential manager worth there salt will have Heard of these men and know the standards they set when playing for the county. I 100% believe it needs to a big name coaching type manager who will also overhaul our underage structures.

Any rumours doing the rounds. I no expressions of interest close on Friday. I haven't actually heard one name properly linked to the job.

Yes it is very quite. It is very important the correct man is put in place.

I agree 100% prob the biggest appointment this county has needed to make if it turns into a shambles or short sited then I dread thing what kind of a county team we will have in 2 years. Tbf to the county board they got the Terry hyland appointment right and he also stepped down at the right time. While results were poor in 2021 he kept the best players in the county playing for Leitrim for 3 years that can only be a bonus. However I do feel if it's not a manger that players feel they can commit too or there is no point then we are in bother. We need everyone that's good enough to put on that jersey to be available and the reality of it is it's going to take a really good manager to make it possible

Very very quiet..not even speculation around the names. I hope it's the case that they are just very good at keeping it all under wraps.

I presume we will have the usual suspects Aidan Rooney martin mc Hugh etc etc applying for managerial position
Nothing personal against these lads but of the top of my head don't think either has won anything at club level at any grade
Would like to see a young enthusiastic person.maybe Gerry mc gowan and Eamon o hara from tourlestrane in sligo.

By all means get a competent manager in place but where is the medium to long term plans for Leitrim football. Anything else is just putting icing over sh@te!

I agree enthusiastic is what's needed. The fact that O Hara went for and didn't get the Sligo job for me is enough. Although I suppose McGuinness went for the Donegal job a few times before they gave it to him.

Personally I think it will be an inside job this time round. Not a very attractive job for an outsider.

Nobody inside the county has the pedigree to do it

Can't be an inside man. Most club teams have someone from an outside county. No top coaches within the county, another poor indictment of the state we are in. We are developing neither players or coaches.

This is a massive appointment. The word is numerous players are on the fence about committing next year. This could put us back another 10 years if this group break up.

Yes, this year was bad but there was numerous reasons for that one being that the management probably stayed one year to long.

Declan Darcy is the ideal candidate. Ticks all the boxes.

If Darcy can't be got then they need to really go and get someone outstanding who will get a buy in from players.

Kevin Walsh is the one who sticks out to me. Brilliant coach who has taken weaker teams (Sligo) to great heights before and our main weakness is our defence which he is more then proficient at coaching. I'd also try and include James Glancy on the coaching ticket. Anyone who has came into contact with his coaching will tell you how good he is.

Yes I'd be happy with Walsh he makes his team hard to beat and that exactly what Leitrim need to be for the next year or 2. Just get back to be competitive. Would Stephen Rochford be interested? He's a coach With Donegal and maybe he'd like a go at managing again. It's a coach type manager we need anyway that's for sure.
