Replying To WanPintWin:  "I've mentioned it a few times in this thread already, but it's why underage football, particularly U20/21 has been so compelling.
Results are far less predictable and we see teams competing for and winning provincial titles, that wouldn't have a hope in senior at the moment.
So we have a Roscommon vs Offaly semi-final, which should be a great occasion. Congrats to both teams."
I think it's Offaly v Cork ?

Great to see a traditional gaa county coming good again after such a long time. Hopefully Offaly can go on to better things. Beating dublin is up there with one of the biggest shocks I can remember and their players should feel very proud of themselves.

I think it is CORK V OFFALY and ROSCOMMON v DOWN/MONAGHAN in the U20 Semi-Finals

Replying To ForeverBlue2:  "Well done Offaly on a fantastic and well deserved win… The goals kept Dublin in the game but overall they were pathetic…3 pts in 60 minutes is a woefully poor effort…. Offaly had more desire and hunger for the game…and much the better players in key positions"
"Pathetic" is over the top perhaps no? Think that does a disservice to Offaly too.

Poor day at the office no doubt for Dublin and missed some sitters.. but all credit to Offaly who were simply better than them and fully deserved it.

Dubs had their chances to level the game late on but I honestly think that would have been unfair on Offaly.

To Dublin's credit they finished their goal chances superbly well but it wasn't enough.

All teams are playing in difficult circumstances at present, so no I wouldn't brand any set of players "pathetic" at this time, far from it.

I'll be 100% shouting for Offaly from here on in.. won't be easy though and they'll need to find another level again to win the big prize.

Although a Leinster Championship at this level is a superb result for Offaly football, off the back of a good minor team too. Obviously some really good work going on and making full use of a good bunch of young lads.

It would be great to see these players make a successful transition up to senior level. There's a very strong tradition there and it was interesting to listen to the Offaly lad speaking about their grandfather's achievements in a post match interview.

Obviously a very good motivational factor and sense of belonging there to instill into their mindsets. Explains a lot about how they played.. Their grandfather's would have been very proud to witness that performance.

An honest assessment of this Dublin team can be fair and not disrespectful to Offaly. Having watched Meath against Dublin I believe Meath would have given Offaly a better game. Dublin's goals papered over the cracks. Fair dues to Offaly they worked hard and harried Dublin and their football ability was much better than Dublin. Even when Dublin players were not under pressure their basic skill levels were very very poor. Offaly look a good side with a couple of classy forwards, so too Roscommon looked very good in McHale as well.

Good to know. I'd assumed it would be the same as senior. Cork look very impressive, but this Offaly team has some serious footballers. Looking forward to it.

The loss of meaths captain and vice captain, Costello and hickey to the seniors along with star midfielder McBride to afl was a monumental loss to that group, looking at offaly last night I wondered was there a decision made to let some of these lads stay with their age group? Because some of them look like they are ready for senior as it is number 9, 11, 13 and 14 look certain senior stars in the making. The most impressive part of offaly's play was their willingness to run at the dublin defence and beat them time and time again it was brilliant to watch well done to them would be great to see them go all the way

Switched on TG4 by chance and glad I did because Dublin Offaly was a very entertaining game. Offaly full value for their victory. Cormac Egan gave an exhibition of running and attcking play. Definitely caught the eye. John Maughan, were you watching?

Congratulations to offaly and to Cork on their provincial final wins last night, 2 fine team and they will give us neutrals a great semifinal.

Cork look really strong in the 2 games iv seen them and they'll take baten and Offaly looked really good against the young dubs it was my first time seeing them and they looked real hungry and they brought the bit of chaos needed against the over programed young dubs.

Cormac Reilly did a réal good job reffing the game although he left the dubs away with an awful lot of forarms to the heads when they were tackling the offaly players in posession, it's a tactic iv noticed that seems to be used by the dubs U20s and the senior team for years but never gets pulled by reffs, it's very dangerous and would not be allowed in other sports and rightly so, and yes I remember Tadhg Kennellys elbo on Nicholas Murphys head and I didn't agree with that elbo to the head either it was dirty and he should have got a red card.

The only doubt is the form /standard of Leinster underage teams
Apart from Dublin at u20/21 Leinster teams have struggled when reaching All Ire Semis stage
This is a lot of reasons why other Countys are so behind Dublin at senior
Hopefully Offaly go on to win it out but time will tell when they play Cork

It's very selective say apart from Dublin when Dublin are the dominant team in Leinster and have won 4 all Irelands since 2010 and competed in the last two finals, and won it in 2017? Of course I have to add that Kildare won the all Ireland in 2018 so that's a recent enough non Dublin winner.
Congrats to Offaly a great boost to the counties GAA and their supporters.

Kildare won the under 20 All Ireland in 2018. With a bit of luck Offaly will achieve the same success. Well done Offaly, your style of football was a pleasure to watch.

Replying To panamasam:  "I thought Cork were superb last night and showed great character to come back on more than one occasion. I completely agree with the general consensus about the ref which made Cork getting that superb final point all the sweeter. I have watched all Donegal's games in Ulster and a few Leinster games too granted just highlights of both Dublin's wins neither seemed convincing. I am a betting man and would be very very sweet on this Cork team winning the AI after Munster even if in the dark about the Connaught teams and Dublin to a degree."
Still odds against in a place Cork for AI (odds on in a place too). Still value personally have them as 4/7 shots. Offaly deserved Leinster winners but beat an average Dublin team by their standards who struggled against both Wicklow and Meath. Offaly themselves got a stroke of luck with Brandon Kelly going off for Westmeath when the game was a coin toss. Not seen any of Down who have x factor on the sideline but no doubt they had a handy draw and play a Monaghan team with great character but really should have been beaten by a good but not brilliant Donegal team. If like me you like to cover yourself a small saver on the Rossies be the way to go but don't see this Cork side been beaten.

I was in Armagh last night to watch Down vs Monaghan. It was a cracking game of football & the Monaghan lads played their hearts out, bringing the game to extra time with an excellent Down side.Unfortunately it wasn't to be our evening & Down pulled away in extra time. As a spectator you could feel the emotion on the pitch. Only 9 days ago, we were all touched be the scenes of this young Monaghan team stand shoulder to shoulder at the grave of their captain Ógie Ó'Dufaigh. To go out there last night and play as they did was a fitting tribute to their friend & to his family, who were also there last night.
At the end of the game there wasn't the usual celebrations by a team who had just won an Ulster final. Conor Laverty showed his class, showing that his thoughts at the moment of his side's deserved victory was with the grieving teammates of young Ógie.
This is a terrific U20 Down team, not only with talent but with soul & I hope you go all the way. Thanks for the dignity you all showed yesterday.
