They're only starting their senior league now !!! That's very late. What's the reason behind it?

Due to covid? Multiple games have been cancelled or postponed in Mayo recently due to confirmed and suspected covid cases in teams.

Dublin almost caught last night by Offaly. BarneyGrant (Dublin) - Posts: 2579 - 21/07/2021 09:44:34 2362407 Link 1 |
Well it not just Galway and Tipp. At the start of the Century Limerick won 3 U21 AIs in Hurling, but the dual player thing probably cost an AI Hurling Title.

Very strange. The Galway v Kilkenny match was weird too in that KK only scored 3 points in the 1st half. The wind was no real factor to either side but KK mounted a savage comeback in the 2nd half and got to within 4 points at one stage before losing by 5 points.

I've been bitten before hoping for that. I'll hope for a win tomorrow night and nothing else. If we win that, I will start to think about it. Tipp won't roll over and have recent history of beating us at all levels.

Roscommon beat Mayo to win the Connacht football title this evening. It would be considered a shock, but very little surprises me in underage competitions. It can be hard to gauge the strength of teams until they meet. The margin of victory was very impressive though. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2045 - 21/07/2021 22:08:25 2362681 Link 2 |
Well done Roscommon, your lads played all the good football. Good luck in the semi-final. Pericles (Mayo) - Posts: 2521 - 22/07/2021 11:14:00 2362776 Link 2 |

Great performance from Offaly. Have some fine footballers in that team especially egan and the number 11 with some pace. KY4SAM2015 (Kerry) - Posts: 898 - 22/07/2021 21:02:16 2362991 Link 2 |
A great win for Offaly. Tough luck on Dublin but this might inspire Offaly seniors too. Its good for football overall.

Thanks Jim Bob for that generous and sporting comment on tonight's game. We'll enjoy the win in the Faithful County.

Fantastic win for Offaly great performance, the Leinster championship badly needs results like this where in a few years time other teams might get a bit stronger at senior level. ke40 (Kildare) - Posts: 209 - 22/07/2021 21:35:56 2363004 Link 1 |
I've mentioned it a few times in this thread already, but it's why underage football, particularly U20/21 has been so compelling. Results are far less predictable and we see teams competing for and winning provincial titles, that wouldn't have a hope in senior at the moment. So we have a Roscommon vs Offaly semi-final, which should be a great occasion. Congrats to both teams. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2045 - 22/07/2021 21:37:51 2363005 Link 2 |
Well done Offaly on a fantastic and well deserved win… The goals kept Dublin in the game but overall they were pathetic…3 pts in 60 minutes is a woefully poor effort…. Offaly had more desire and hunger for the game…and much the better players in key positions ForeverBlue2 (Cavan) - Posts: 1943 - 22/07/2021 22:09:04 2363014 Link 0 |
