If you consider they were on the easier side of the draw then maybe. If you consider that they contested the last two finals maybe not.

Based on 1 game - that's strange. One of our best players last year and wasn't short of pace last week v your lot or are your forwards pretty slow also ? eunans4ever (Donegal) - Posts: 1595 - 23/05/2021 17:08:32 2344606 Link 1 |
McKenna skinned him last week for a goal opportunity. Roasted for at least one one vs Monaghan. Don't be so precious. Players age and lose their skills. Neil McGee will be fine in 95% of matches. But against the Dubs/Kerry he will be in huge trouble. Don't think that's a controversial statement? The_Fridge (Tyrone) - Posts: 2088 - 23/05/2021 17:38:03 2344624 Link 0 |
In fairness I don't think it's based on one game. He is one of the best full backs I have ever seen but will be badly exposed 1 v 1 in my opinion. Like yesterday. He will survive in the sweeper system. In fairness I think the major problem Donegal have is at 6. Brennan is not good enough at that level.

You must think half of Donegal is in the DUP at this stage. Maybe you're trying to recruit for them?

Agree that his best days are behind him. Maybe isn't worth a starting place now but I feel there was some heavy training done last week because that entire defence was just too heavy legged. It would need to be the case! McMenamin is our best in the full back line now. Probably Eoin Ban beside him. McFadden Ferry a little further out than those two. Brennan and McFadden are suspect for me at the highest level and possibly McGonagle too. I think McNelis and maybe Jason McGee have a role to play there yet in the middle.

Rory beggan might just have taken goal keeping role to a new level last night or the next evolution since Cluxton, even before Monaghan went down to 14 men, he was starting plays and build ups from wing back position, a false number 5 if you like, which allowed Monaghan to play 14 out field players against Donegal's 14 out field players after they got a man sent off, it may be a tactic worth developing when you have a gk that comfortable playing outfield, to try and create a extra man in build up plays. Even Patton for Donegal started roaming out the wings when Donegal went down to 14. Tirchonaillabu2012 (Donegal) - Posts: 7 - 23/05/2021 21:09:40 2344737 Link 3 |
