Wasn't a massive Gay Byrne fan but some guests were mad or just insightful and laughed at. Not Gaa related. But I remember a man on the LLS one Friday night, early 90's and he advocating the mobile phone market, he made a statement that everyone would own a mobile phone, he said people would have two or three phones, one personal and one for work.. he was laughed at by everyone there, including Gay. The mad though that someone would even possess a 'mobile telephone'... I often think of that man and how he must have felt that night, and how much he must have laughted at their expense after,,,, I take it he is a rich man now... More recently Bitcoin was laughed at and anyone who bought it were described as burning money. Well they are laughing now. A well known business man in North Galway was laughed off the Late Late over 30 yrs ago with his feeding equipment for livestock. I have worked in the food industry most of my life and know how much it is regulated with at least one different audit weekly. Water filling operations were given a free pass. When the concept first started I know of one well know supplier who was filling the bottles behind his house with a hose from the mains water.
