Replying To Bon:  "To be fair there was a bit more to the Kennedy thing."
I know there was but didnt want to go into that on here...I think the 2000 All Ireland man of the match against us (Offaly) in the final was his undoing...I suppose to b fair to the chap there are 3 sides to every story too as they say...

Replying To brian:  "Correct me if I'm wrong on this but wasn't Kennedy roasted in an all ireland semi final defeat by Galway by Kevin Broderick (think he scored that famous point where he flicked it over a players head on the run) and Cody being the ruthless manager he is replaced him the following year.

Another lad from around that time, Mark O'Leary from Tipp. Think he was a bank manager or something, had a massive season in 2001 and think he dissappear thereafter. Might've been injuries that did for him."
Mark O'Leary I think went with injuries or something, kind of dissapeared never to be heard of again..the had a similar type forward back around 93/4, Swan was his surname...deadly free taker and was leading scorer for them up there with all the big names of the time...seemed to just go then and not a word again of him...Mark Keane of Limerick of course is a classsic case, by his own admission of going down the wrong road..he was an awesome talent..as was Sean O'Connor too of that great U21 team....such a loss of talent...

That's very true.

I'm not sure how much he played but I recall him winning a lot with Cork at underage etc but Derek Barrett is one. There was also a Murphy from that era I think he was the U21 All Ireland winning captain two years in a row.

Niall Healy from Galway also. Scored a hat rick against Kilkenny in 05 but don't recall him reaching that level again.

He was Dan Murphy. He was reared in Newcastle West, Co Limerick, but I think the family were from Cork.

Derek Barrett was a lovely tidy wing back in his day..isnt there a story where by the Cork that Wayne Sherlock was on he was the only player to come through and at that he was a sub or something...I googled it and its not minor 1994 as Sean Og and Kevin Egan and other big names were there that year even though they didnt win the minor they were all stars and went on to hurl senior..Wayne Sherlock holds some sort of distinction...

I think he was mentioned above elsewhere before...but Finabar Delaney for Cork in the early 1990s appears to be some bit of talent...like alot of these players, I had forgotten about him until I seen his name last night on Cork team from 1991 scoring 1-11 in one match...he went off the scene very quickly..

Dan Murphy was a class act, I was very surprised that he never made an impact at senior level.

In a sense you could include "Cha" in this group despite he captaining an All-Ireland side. He was gone at 27 supposedly by his own choice but there is a lot more to that story.

Jonathan Clancy of Clare late 2000s
Philip Maher of Tipperary early 2000s
Michael White of Waterford late 1990s
David Forde of Clare
John Reddan of Clare

And don't start me on the Limerick under21s of the early 2000s - too many of that team were never heard of again.

Yes Michael White was like his family member Tom Casey brilliant hurlers but the temperament was never right.

Timmy Houlihan the keeper from those teams. What was his story? Was it an attitude thing? He seemed to be coming and going for the bones of 10 years.

Genie Farnell had a few good seasons with Kerry in the mid 90s but fell away. His club mate Bingo Driscoll was an from that era. He did play with New York for a long time after.
