OK, at 39, to go into a pro game with players far younger than you, good achievement to not disgrace yourself tbh.

But to be named in the team of the year at pushing 40 is some achievement.

Begs the question - I wonder does she regret not going 20 years ago?

Fair play to her.

I had to check her age there as I thought you had made a mistake. It's an absolutely incredible story and I read she had broken her leg in four places in 2019, which makes it even more spectacular. Fair play to her.

The womens game in Australia only went semi pro in 2017. Having watched some of the games on tg4 the standard could be politely described as poor. An Irish selection would beat their Australian counterparts at a game of Australian Rules no bother.

Saw her playing for Mayo many years ago in McHale park before a senior championship game , she had more natural Gaelic Football ability than any of the men playing for Mayo or Roscommon in the so called big game.

I always thought she was a touch selfish in her game, which in fairness most greats in any sport are. She'd try to plough through 4 or 5 defenders and not pass the ball to her team mates, and then when she was turned over she'd start giving out to her team mates. And she always shot for the posts, even in impossible positions, when her team mates were in a better spot. But she would manage to get some of them, and is a household name due to her ability. There's no denying that.

Still some doing though, coming back from injury too, at that age. Break a leg, and it often kills your pace after wards. And you still have to compete for pace and endurance with 20-somethings. When you're 25, you don't appreciate it
