That reminds me .Fungi returned ?

Ya, but I go to Tai Chi classes on Tuesday and Thursday so it's not really relevant. Anyway, who's your favourite Womble ?

Maybe they could all take turns on exercise bikes belt driving 2nd hand Ford fiesta alternators? Fitness and lights all in one?

Replying To essmac:  "Former manager saying all chasing counties need to shape up. There's a lot of truth in that. Though it'd be a bit easier if e.g. Leitrim could afford 28 backroom staff and 3 physios lol. The US win lots of medals at Olympics. They have some great athletes, but they also have some great facilities and coaches. Money talks there, same as it does in GAA."
Tyrone, Dublin, Mayo, Kerry, Galway and to a certain extent Donegal since they realised the ex pat potential, Monaghan to a lesser extent to the successful business profile in that county in football terms all have enough finance to build the right facilities and prepare teams to win All Irelands.

Those counties have no reason to question Dublin's finances. Yes Dublin have more money, but bigger population but those other counties have the finance required to run a semi professional set up in terms of preparation.

The middle tier counties can compete at their level, and as we've seen previously can find the money from local and further afield business if a group of players come through. If Leitrim somehow got 20 top class players coming through at the same time, it's possible they could find the money but they have to rely on luck as the inital counties I mention have the finance to build teams by design and planning.

Well Leitrim has an adequate football ground for its size and a centre of excellence, neither of which Dublin have for example.
Every county has the right to question Dublin's finances, Dublin don't have to fundraise!
If Leitrim had 20 top class players coming through at the same time they still would have to travel many hours to training and back, we still would have to fundraise.
The likes of Tyrone, Galway and Mayo have been a long time preparing to win an All Ireland.

The finances Dublin have make them similar to Man City in many ways with huge resources pumped into them making the level playing field theory a joke. I just thought of the Lidl add that's on the tv at the moment about levelling the playing field. If they did they for the men's game it would be Dublin at the top of Mount Everest and the rest playing up the hill

To be balanced about it, there is more than Dublin who are being backed by lots of money. Ok, Dublin probably have the biggest financial pot but there are other counties that have been mentioned on this thread who have massive backing from big companies or from wealth individuals abroad. The top hurling counties are the same. So if Dublin are being scrutinised, it should be extended to other top counties as it goes beyond Dublin. I had to laugh last Saturday when I heard that there was a motion to stop two captains receiving the cup at a presentation; the GAA Congress would discuss anything it seems aside from the obvious issues around semi professional counties competing against amateur counties due to the imbalance in resources. The answer from the GAA is that these weaker, less well resourced counties need to get their house in order, try harder, playing in a second competition but we won't investigate the imbalance in resources between the top and the bottom. Outside Dublin, I would think the imbalance at the top of hurling is more profound than in football. Imagine the difference in resource between Cork-Tipperary-Kilkenny and a hurling county like Roscommon. There are players in weaker counties that have as much talent as a hurler in a top county but they haven't a chance of making it due to the imbalance in terms of coaching and resources from underage up but they need to work harder to caught up!!!

One of the biggest issues which no money will sort is emigration and migration, in particular from counties along the western seaboard. Generations have left counties like Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway, Clare and indeed Kerry. It's actually a credit to any county which has been ravaged to even compete, never mind expect to win.

Kerry of course have managed to buck this trend, but there's always been an obsession in Kerry with playing and winning for the county. People often ask where is so and so, who looked so good at underage but never made the senior county team. I'll tell you where they are, they are in well paid jobs and enjoying life in Australia, mainland Europe the UK or America. You never meet too many Dubs too far away from Mammy.

It's easy to win an All-Ireland medal if you play for Dublin, try doing it the hard way, and giving the medal a bit of weight.

It's gas watching these clowns with multiple accounts answering themselves and giving " themselves" the thumbs up, like drunken Paddy Murphy talking to his twin in the mirror. Hilarious stuff :-)))
