Replying To Proudroyal:  "Yeah I agree,maybe I'm showing my age but I remember when the hill was mainly Dubs and the canal was mainly Meath (there was a few dubs on the canal as well) but the atmosphere was electric both sets of fans singing and chanting at each other great days.I think it has alot to do with price I cant for the life of me understand why they dont have cheaper tickets bigger crowd, better atmosphere and sounds and looks good on TV going all around the world, get more people and kids going to games and hooked on the game.I know they will say they need the money but I've been in croke park many times with say 30 odd thousand and it's dead the atmosphere,cheaper tickets and you might get another 20 odd thousand maybe more would make some difference.i understand other posters saying they like sitting beside lads/ladies from other counties and I do as well but if you had the hill for the Dubs and the canal end for other team and rest of the stadium mixed I think it would create a much better atmosphere."

Events are managed based on income and if you reduce cost of tickets you have to get a certain amount more in to make same amount of money. If you want more people to attend you need more staff to be working so all that is added up"

Replying To Proudroyal:  "Well Killingfields,I get your point,i know it costs money to run events and that but I'm sure the GAA are making a big profit on games (not last year obviously)but it wont last attendance's are dropping and they will keep dropping if they dont act on it.I go to alot of Meath games and the attendances at games is dropping for sure(now I know we are not doing as well as I would like)but it's more to do with the price.I know alot of people who would go if tickets prices were lower.Its not just county games but club games as well.You could pay 15/20 euro if not more to see a club game,why not capped it at say 10 (club games)then I'm sure more people would go to club games hence maybe bring there kids who then want to play Gaa.I know you will always have the diehard fans who will go rain ,hail or shine no matter the price but that wont last forever.They have to think longterm about the game and the key to that is getting people to go and play our wonderful games.So as you say it costs money to run events but why not take a bit of a hit to profits now and gain in the long term future of the game and with lower ticket prices more people will go and hence more money spent at games.If it keeps going the way it is Croke park will be used only for finals hence a wonderful stadium wasted.I have been going to croke park all my life and when it's full it's an amazing experience better than any soccer game in England I have been at but in the last few years it's barely half full or less and it's dead.I know the all Ireland finals it's full but that's only once or twice a year.Its the same with any county grounds imagine going to play in full house in Thurles,Limerick,Donegal or wherever each game.Now maybe you will say I'm in cloud cuckoo land(probably right)to think it is that easy lower ticket prices and everything is rosy i know it's not that easy but there is a whole market there if they would think longterm.When all this(pandemic) is over,are people going to have much money?will they spend it on overpriced tickets?I dont think they will so the GAA will have to look at it seriously and not bury their heads in the sand.Anyway rant over,hope you and all the other posters are keeping well and safe."

Does anyone genuinely think the gaa top brass care about club football in Cavan, Roscommon, Antrim or club hurling in any county either?! Not a hope. All they want is the money rolling in and keep the show on the road! Spending in excess of 71 million on Croke park is a pure scandal where clubs the length and breadth of the country are struggling to field teams, do up pitches and clubhouses, pay administration fees etc. Would that money not be better spent on young players or helping struggling clubs improve facilities??"

Ticket prices are decided by demand. If demand drops substantially then prices should drop but why would any organisation/business/group drop prices when crowd numbers are already strong.
Kids under 16 are free into club games so prices of an adult isnt going to stop kids attending."

Replying To Proudroyal:  "Well I cant be certain,it will take a hit (profit)alright but you say demand is there if it drops so do the prices.Well cant speak for Munster but leinster demand for tickets is dropping and the prices aren't if anything they are going up.Yes kids under 16 are free into club games but higher ticket prices is putting people off.I only go now to my own clubs matches but before when it was alot cheaper I would go to a few different games.Numbers maybe still strong but not as strong as they were.You will always have the diehards who will pay but surely you have seen a drop off in numbers at games.I will still go to as many Meath games as I can but people who have gone in the past i know dont go now because of the price.If you keep hitting the same people all the time numbers will drop.My point is too try and get people who dont go anymore back and people who might go if prices drop.People wont have as much money after the pandemic is over (in my opinion)so you could well see even more of a drop off.The Gaa is so good for communities and does do so much good for its members and it's been and will be a main part in my life but they cant keep hitting the same folk all the time.They cant bury their heads in the sand and think everything is rosy."
