Another Question For Dubs

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Of course the dubs are enjoying it and rightly so. No disrespect to counties that have nt tasted success for a long time but I don't think they understand the winning thing really. Yes you get used to winning and the more you win its not as exciting but its still a thing of beauty. Also a fear of losing can set in to winners so there is also a sense of relief. When Dubs lose it will be a bad feeling. I know some don't understand that but it's true.Thr more one wins the more one wants to win. Sometimes what you never had you never miss. It's like giving a child a lick of ice cream. If they never had it no prob but now the child wants ice cream all the time. Yes there is a feeling of pity for the losers but we all want to win and yes every victory is special in their own way.

Of course they are enjoying it. They don't care that there is no integrity to the competition because it is them who are benefitting. They don't care about the game outside of the M50 and it could be argued they have little regard for the concept of sport itself. I find this Tory Boy attitude bizarre.

Well if course winning is enjoyable but if galway were being accused of buying titles and destroying football,, and being hit with the level of hate that Dublin is now it would bother me.
Dublin won the all Ireland last night and most dub posters on here spent the evening having to argue that their county shouldnt be split in two.

You don't sound like you're having fun. You seem quite annoyed, along with many other dubs. I'm not trying to be difficult,, but seriously it's bad when even the winners are annoyed.
Ciarán Whelan said in 2017 that when the final whistle went he knew he would have to spend the night defending Dublin on TSG.
Not a normal reaction to your county winning the all Ireland.

Well said. They won it fair and square and let them enjoy their victory without begrudgery.

So, what do you suggest, mo chara? Should Dublin go out deliberately lose to give other counties a chance. Kildare had a fine team under Mick O'Dwyer and were very unlucky not to win an All-Ireland. When Micko left it all fell apart. KIldare with its population and resources should do better. I just don't believe they have the will to win, which is great pity!

Think your missing the point there Pat. When we won Leinsters with Micko we weren't getting 18 times the funding of any other county, 20 times the sponsorship and playing all games at home.

But yeah I suppose we just don't have the will to win and don't work hard enough. If only we could work as hard as the Duns and that would fix the situation.

Isn't that a bit hypocritical though, let's be honest the dogs in the street know O' Dwyer was getting a right few Bob for managing Kildare. Similarly with Jack O Connor, isn't that in itself financial doping, trying to get an edge on an opponent through financial means. Dare we bring up St. Kevin's finest Seanie Johnson.

I wonder how many GPO's all of the above would cost.

Isn't that also true that Kildare played their Championship games in Croker under O Dwyer, how many in 98 were played outside Croker? Long way from the Newbridge or nowhere stuff back then.

I think the last county to make a case for fair play or moaning about unfair financial spending or playing games in Croker, would be Kildare.

He's been involved all championship without getting a single minute of game time.

With 7 celtic crosses in his back pocket, you'd wonder how he can be happy to sit on the bench all championship. But obviously it's worth his while somehow.

Why would you receive multiples of the funding value of other counties with such a small population and with HQ having being built in the capital. Do you propose that Kildare receive the same funding as Dublin with a fraction of the population? Do you propose that big championship games involving Dublin should be played outside of the main stadium and HQ? Who decides where Dublin play anyway?

This is a staggering argument and only somebody very delududed would be misguided enough to raise a tenuous link like this. Mick Osborne put a few pound into the account to get Micko up and down to Waterville, yes of course. But this is not systematic financial doping by both government and the GAA.

Your all Ireland mean nothing. Its not your fault, Bertie and the GAA created this farce. But we are all laughing at your delusions.

Dublin are like an alcoholic father, the don't have a problem, just need a couple more drinks, they control the purse strings of the house, its not their fault there a problem and its unfair that if anyone else point out the facts. They don't care about the damage they are doing to everyone else. The other 31 counties need to have a intervention at this stage before it's too late.

No point personalising, that is weak.

Surely the principal is the same, Kildare invested artificially in talent to try and get an edge, they tried the same this year with O Connor. Him many GDOs, GDA's would these Hollywood mangers produced investing in your own.
Look at Anthony Rainbow and the job he has done and doing. Seanie Johnson is same thing, typical Kildare, financial incentive to get an edge. Quick fix, no long term strategy and investment and dare I say no trust in the young people, players or managers in the county. The Croke park argument fell on its face when you think back to Kildare glory years, all games in Croke Park, no issue then..

Elsewhere in Leinster we have seen counties invest huge sums in these Hollywood managers, Davy down Wexford, Mikey in Louth, Sugrue, Galvin and other Kerry managers.

It all harks back to the same fundamental, huge money being spent by Leinster counties on ould rope. No investment in their own, no plan, no trust in their own, grass is always greener elsewhere, big name appointments and massive waste.

To be fair to Meath I think they are beginning to do it right way in recent years and fair play to them.

Simply put counties like Kildare are run like banana republics, feathered nests, massive waste, using finance and rule bending to try and get an edge and failing because they have no confidence in their own, rinse and repeat.

I've no doubt if Kildare got more then they are already getting in East Leinster project additional funding, they would do something ridiculous like build an inflatable aero dome like the one in Mayo.

Kildare have their principles all wrong and an evident massive distrust in their own has undermined lack of confidence, evident throughout all their history in football.

You can use Dublin as the monitor under the bed, but that's just avoidance, Kildare should be held up as an example of how not to develop a footballing county, their morals and principals should be looked at to via Micko, Seanie and Jack. Kildare have been an anonymous football force throughout their history, long before Dublin got a sniff of Sam.

If I was from Kildare and I played club football their for a number of years, I'd be looking inwardly before I looked outwardly, they just do everything wrong, no amount of money would do anything for them until the root cause is adressed and they have an identity. They get more then most at the moment.

Utter nonsense. If Kildare had half the resource financially that Dublin had there would be a Leinster Championship to speak of.

Dublins game is a reductive basketball hybrid that requires huge coaching resource, dedication but not much skill. There was a start last year where Dermott Connolly was the only Dublin player to attempt a shot from outside the 45 since 2016.

If Leitrim had the S&C, nutritionists and psychologists you had they would challenge too regardless of population differential. We all have the footballers but we don't have the entourage you deluded lot have.

It's deluded gibberish like this that has the game in the state it is in and that Dublin fans have become a parody of themselves. Dublin have a CEO. Who else has that? Why can't we all have CEOs?

Kildare have largely funded Hawkfield themselves. They have to somehow make some sort of shape out of newbridge with 4m. Dublin have campuses and an 82k stadium provided so they can fund the entourage.

We can look inwardly all we want but there is no escaping the fact that the bulk of our sponsorship comes from a family business, not AIG. But you will still cod on like money makes no difference. Tories.

Completely agree..they can't actually see the problem...the GAA has created this monster and they can't reel it in...time we left the dubs to themselves and got on with a proper all Ireland
