Looking at the Cork Senior Hurling setup over the past 10 years it is alarming how few Norries there are on the panel. Also how can the Glen management of Richie Kelleher and Ian Lynam be overlooked for the top job in Cork Hurling when taking the Glen to final after final and winning titles along the way. That is a team that would be full of energy , skill and have steel to put it upto other counties . Having the Seandún Divisional team back up and running is great news for City hurling and for Cork hurling as a whole .

This is the second post set up about cork in the space of a week now I have massive respect for cork gaa. But shouldn't this be on the cork forum and not the national one Irishcelt (Wicklow) - Posts: 149 - 08/12/2020 18:06:55 2320369 Link 1 |
This a platform for GAA fans to give their opinions so as long as its GAA related of course it can be posted !

Yeah but sure for god sake are you going to start up ond about there not been enough county footballers coming from naas or me starting up one about not enough gaa been played in our biggest town bray who has one non competitive senior team out of 40 000 people who would listen to me ? That's why we discusse it on our own county forums. And regarding Dublin posts they are set up by the begrudgers from other countys not Dublin fans

Is that the Blake Murphy from last year's U20 footballers? If so, do you think he'll go the hurling route at senior level instead of football? He looked like a serious prospect for the footballers. WanPintWin (Galway) - Posts: 2321 - 09/12/2020 00:10:51 2320519 Link 0 |
Anyone able to answer why this is the case?

Some of the county pages have such little traffic they were disabled. Admin mentioned it years ago. There's no Kilkenny or Armagh one either Breffni40 (Cavan) - Posts: 12333 - 10/12/2020 18:56:23 2321135 Link 2 |
About 2-3 years ago hoganstand got rid of a few counties Forums due to lack of use I believe , I posted on the Cork forum a few times and to look back through the threads on it it was a vibrant enough forum at 1 stage, Roumor has it that all the Cork posters moved to the people's Republic of Corks Forum which is an excellent forum that covers a multitude of all things Cork not just sports. Around 1962 the Cork team had a lot of Glen players and won nothing. Christy Ring, Patsy Harte, Jackie Daly, Tom Corbett, Mick McCarthy, Finbarr O' Neill, Jerry o' Sullivan, Denis Riordan, Bill Carroll and Mick Quane all on panel. Most were good club hurlers but failed miserably against Tipperary. Around 1968 Glen withdrew from County Championship after Andrew Flynn got a lifetime ban (subsequently rescinded) . Glen had been in conflict with the county board for awhile (read Denis Coughlan's autobiography.... he certainly was aggrieved with the county board). Way back in 1940's Glen and Cork dominated, but that is so far back . Blackrock won the county this year, and I would have Tadhg Deasy, Niall Cashman, Daniel Meaney, and Alan Connolly on the team. Glen have Horgan, Rob Downey and Steven McDonnell. Glen certainly have given great players in past...Ring, Tomas Mulcahy, Denis Coughlan,Patrick Horgan etc...but i do not see anymore coming from present team. Cork U20 are looking good and hopefully some will be fast tracked onto senior team. In actual fact, the great Cork teams of mid and late 1970's were backboned by Blackrock, and St Finbarrs. Denis Coughlan was the sole Glen rep....Teddy O'Brien and Pat Barry featured in 1972. 1986-1990 had Fitzgibbon and Tomas Mulcahy but the personnel was spread out over many clubs....as were teams of early noughties. Sean Og O hailpin and John Gardiner were excellent Na Piarsaigh players Cork hurling has been negatively impacted by tribalism and even when Cork were winning in 1976,77 and 78 there were accusations of too many Rockies players on the team. Let's pick the best team and not from what clubs they come from. Rockies (Cork) - Posts: 947 - 13/12/2020 17:56:43 2322004 Link 0 |
