Replying To MesAmis:  "The "County Dublin" that was abolished in 1994 was the area covered by Dublin County Council which is not the traditional county of Dublin.

It's pretty simple."
It's pretty simple, the county structure in Ireland is based on when the English/ Norman's divided the country up and establish counties in law. This evolved over time and stabilised to 32 counties, one of which was Dublin. Borough councils were sometimes present to manage big towns/ cities inside these counties but actual county boundaries is based on counties established in law. Dublin was a county as it was set up in law but, technically, once it was abolished it no longer exists.
Way back in history the 'original' County Meath included what is now Meath and Westmeath. This 'original' county was abolished in the 1500's to make way for the current counties, technically the same has happened with county Dublin.

Also you say no player in dublin gets anymore than a player in Kerry but how about eternal home advantage?

Do Kerry receive the money of a province from the gaa Mick? because dublin do."
Yes get alot of money probably the money of a proven é albeit not from the gaa but yes more than most. We all know Croker an advantage but Kerry voted to play there. This thread is about splitting Dublin or not into a few teams. You have a problem with Dublin having advantages but no problem with Kerry having them. You only want to hear the answer that suits you. I have my opinion on matters too but I'd rather go by the facts.

Mick you're talking about going by the facts but the fact is you don't know how much money we have in Kerry but you're happy to say we have loads that we get the amount a province gets.

You're correct this thread is about splitting dublin and I was talking about that but then you brought kerry into by saying we get loads of money the money of a province no less.

Did we vote to play dublin in Croke Park for perpetuity or can we vote again this year?

This is getting silly. It really is very simple but you're struggling for some reason. I've no idea why to be honest.

The "County Dublin" that was abolished in 1994 was an administrative county that did not include all of the traditional county of Dublin. So you're assertion that "County Dublin" as used in a GAA context has been abolished in law is plainly untrue.

In a GAA context, the GAA has never used administrative areas as a basis of their games so it is irrelevant in anyways.

I don't know how much Bill Gates has either but I know his wealthy. I know Kerry have and get plenty of money. No super 8s this year so I'd say no vote. Anyway I want to play Dublin and Cork not just regions of them. I must say though you must be a secret fan of Dublin because you think they are the most unbeatable team in history. I myself think they are a fantastic team but like all other great champions they are beatable. Obsession shows fear. And yes there are one or two posters from Dublin obseesed with Kerry too. I take that as a compliment as it shows fear and respect. The Dublin posters here now know how much you fear and respect Dublin.

I agree it's getting silly. County boundaries are what they are. Borough councils existed inside county boundaries, that's why, for example, when the GAA originally decided on setting up an inter county championship in the late 19 century off the Irish county model they did not separate the Dublin corporation area from the rest of county (county council area). Same idea for Cork etc.

No and No,the tiered competition has been referred to here already...it would involve all counties as is plus the four Dublin county teams.

It shouldnt. The GAA is based around counties. Dublin isnt 4 counties. Its one. It has 4 areas for administration reasons just like Limerick, Cork, Galway had 2 for ages. That some dont any more is irrelevant.

Well mick you're correct about Bill Gates being wealthy as Forbes has him down as having123. 8 billion that is a FACT, unfortunately Kerry GAA with our LOADS of money didn't make that list.

Damn right I'm afraid of dublin , they've won 6 in row and 8 in the last 10 years and their team is getting younger, plus gaurenteed home advantage and the amount of money they're getting from the gaa and sponsors and they haven't even developed football between the 2 canals yet, so yes I'm afraid.

As for my respect of them, well respect has to be earned and it can't be bought.

Fear isn't the best way to gain respect IMO.

Jaysus poor old CiarraiMick in danger of being branded a Dub again soon.

Fair play to you though Mick you never fail to talk sense, weigh up both sides of an argument and give your opinion on it. And long may you continue to do so. You give everyone their respect and provided considered response. If only all Kerry supporters were like you sir.

On the topic. Why should Dublin be split in four. Dublin is a county, therefore should be allowed represent themselves as a county. Are we going to insist that Dublin is broken down as four for every age group, male and female, in both codes, with 4 separate county boards, 4 separate sets of championships etc or is this only their senior men's football team? I'll assume people don't actually want the former and its a case of just breaking up their senior men's team.

But i digrees and i'll ask how is it proposed the county should be split? Who will dictate that? How do people propose each of these new teams are set up, funded, and resourced, because that has to be considered. Where and what competitions will they take part in and where will they be represented. I.e> for the league are all four teams put into Division 4 and they've to get promoted upward.

What happens when there's a run of 10-20 years of 2 of those 4 teams are playing in and winning the Leinster championship? And the other 2 teams are in the semi finals? What do the likes of Meath/Kildare/Offaly/Laois etc do when they can't get to a Leinster football final or semi final...... do you then break those teams up further and further and further dilute said counties chances of getting to a Leinster final

I'd much rather from a Meath point of view that there's only one Dublin. At least we've a chance of catching Dublin on an off day, and hopefully improving ourselves over the next few years and bridging the gap to the dubs as players retire from this current team.

If you're break up Dublin then why not also break up Kerry in Munster football into four separate teams representing their geographical region and let's see how the chips may fall in that case. They've won about 65 to 70% of all Munster senior football titles and probably 80% of all of Munster's senior all ireland titles. They're more dominant the Dublin have ever been in Leinster.

In my lifetime i've seen Meath, Dublin and Offaly win all irelands, with Kildare, Laois, Westmeath also winning titles in Leinster. In the same time frame Kerry have probably won 25 titles, Cork 10+ and 1 each for Tipp and Clare in Munster

It's a pointless topic. It shouldn't and won't happen. C'est la vie.

What if there was a team from every electoral area. County divisions were drafted to suit British local government hundreds of years ago

Amazingly,I still haven't seen a coherent justification for not splitting Dublin on the thread.Beyond saying "it won't work" "its always been this way" " we won't play ball if Dublin is split" "never never" " I wouldn't support it" "Its my opinion Dublin should not be split"!Attempts at justifying keeping Dublin as one team have been rather poor.Perhaps there is no Justification for not splitting Dublin.

Does anyone know how one can access the earlier pages of this thread, are they archived?
