Pity your derogatory pretext indicating your lack of interest in the subject and yet you posted on it without having read the thread, you just dived in and blurted out not knowing that what you wrote has already been dealt with!

I think there are posters here purely to wind people up and you should take no notice of them. You're as entitled to your say as anyone else.

Replying To ONdeDITCH:  "So you believe another 90 players in Dublin should not be afforded the opportunity to play at elite representative level, that's a very selfish and self serving insular viewpoint, what about all those great club players in Dublin being prevented from developing their game further and playing on the big stage."
Your entitled to your opinion , however i believe splitting Dublin is wrong and will never be accepted by the majority of Dublin fans .

Replying To Dubh_linn:  "Cork if you like would be the hurling equivalent of Dublin in football. They are one of what people refer to as one of the traditional strongholds.
They have multiples in terms of population and clubs compared to the other main contenders for the Liam McCarthy cup.
Cork are now into their 16th year without winning an All Ireland.
If you are purely trying to make a case for splitting a county based on population and fairness to those less populated counties then by extension you should split Cork.
I don't think that is likely to happen any time soon though and I don't think anyone would suggest it should."
I asked this exact question re splitting Cork next if Dublin were to split. If its all about population and amount of clubs then Cork are right up there.

If you consider Cork to be the Hurling equivalent of Dublin Football Dubhlinn then maybe they should be treated equally ?? ....if 16 years without winning the National title was considered a "crisis that required GAA intervention and investment " in Dublin then surely Cork going 16 years without winning a National Hurling title deserves multiples of millions of investment too ??....without it they only have a 'simple' population advantage like Dublin had up in till 2002 ( I would argue that Cork have much of a population advantage atall when they are competing with Dublin, Galway, Limerick etc.. ) ..population on its own dosent guarantee success but if you have a guaranteed financial stream to enable you to recruit a CEO to head up your "business" and begin your "revolution" in a proper manner it certainly helps ...especially if you are wise with that huge investment advantage, as Dublin clearly have been

Let's wait and see,it will take time but as I repeatedly point out its just one prong of the remedy for a fair and competitive AI football championship giving young lads in ALL counties an oppprtunity to aspire to playing representative football at an elite level and surely that can't be a bad thing.

Now Superdub you have astutely avoided addressing the point I raised and I think I know why...there's no justification for preventing another 90 players in Dublin from aspiring to play at an elite level and I think you know that too.

Replying To bdbuddah:  "But not separate county councils, Cork city or Galway city are not designated counties, they are cities."
But cities that have GAA clubs.

If you split Dublin along your lines in 3 (SD, Fingal, DLRD) the majority of the current Dubs squad wouldn't have a team to play for as the live in DCC area.

I agree population is not a guarantee of success and both Dublin and Cork have demonstrated that in the past and currently. Yes, Dublin have spent the money well and I agree that more financial assistance should be given to other counties to help them strengthen and develope their structures but again this is no guarantee unless the people in charge manage the finances properly.
Cork ,I believe have a significant advantage numbers wise over their main traditional rivals who have been Tipperary and Kilkenny. Galway and Limerick would not have the same tradition of winning titles which again debunks the population argument if you like.
Tipp and Kilkenny with far fewer numbers would contest and win All Ireland's more frequently.

To be honest Dubhlinn I agree about the money part and I'm not sure if I would fully welcome a large investment in Galway GAA unless the correct person was steering that investment....we have wasted a criminal amount of money over the last decade between our hurling and football boards.

I think the millions for Inter-county budgets and games development funding is too big a responsibility for a part time board to be dealing with...thats probably why I am envious of the professional set up that Dublin enjoy at the moment, headed up by your very competent CEO...

Now that Dublin have combined the holy grail of population advantage with business expertise, massive sponsorship, professional admin and support along with well structured/well run internal County competitions of their own it will be a huge surprise if Dublin dont win 7 out of every 10 All Irelands.... I personally worry that will be the case and if it turns out to be so it'll be a problem for us all, Dubs and non-Dubs alike.

Replying To CiarraiMick:  "Spórt is never fair. If it was there would be no need of refs umpires or video refs etc. Could you imagine a sport where there were 6 teams competing for the championship and there is an open draw but the top brass decide to keep the top two teams seperate every year so they can meet in the final and thus giving the othe teams very little hope (cos they might beat one of the big teams but not the two in the one year). How corrupt and unfair that would be! Oh wait it happened for years in the munster fc with Kerry and Cork to the detriment of the forgotten four. Imagine that! Did Kerry or Cork complain? Of course they did nt. Sure it was nt their fault. They did nt make the rules."
That's a poor attempt at a come back mick, 1 wrong is not like the other and that wrong that was done to Munster teams has been addressed and stopped for a good few years now.

Can the same be said in Leinster?

I initially was answering a post that pulled someone up for being wrong in not calling Dublin county. I found this ironic as technically Dublin is no longer a county.

As I have already said , you are entitled to your opinion as am i however, and it's my opinion that Dublin should not be split , it would be the ruination off Gaa in Dublin again in my opinion, so we will have to agree to disagree .

That's fair enough Black+Blue and as you say if money is wasted like that it's never going to change no matter how much you put in. It's akin to the Department of Health which has more money pumped into it than any other department and there's little or no sign of improvement. If anything it's getting worse.
What I would say too though is that I think it is unlikely that Dublin will dominate to that extent.
We were blessed with the group of players that were involved for the last decade. I'm uncertain that they will be replaced as easily as a lot of posters seem to think and I would discount this year to a large extent due to the nature of the whole championship.
Yes , we have the population and naturally we should produce more top drawer players but it remains to be seen how easily those players will be replaced.
There are a couple of that group who are still involved and are over thirty and while they have another couple of years they were vital to our success.
On another point , I think the whole structure of the championship is flawed and that should be addressed.
I certainly do not have all the answers but I think that should be looked at before breaking up counties is considered.

To be honest I find the Dublin funding debate and the question of splitting Dublin two sides of the same coin.
It's inconsistent for Dublin people to have looked for (and be granted) being treated as a special case in being granted funding way above their registered players due to having a population multiples of all opponents (and uniquely for the funding to be administered by the Dublin county board rather than the through provincial councils (as for all other counties)) and then follow that up by saying Dublin can never be split as in this case Dublin can't be treated as a special case.
