Article in Examiner today suggesting pressure on Keane, other reports that Moran and Geaney polled the players and outcome was very negative for Keane.

Id say if Moran did a poll on himself amongst the squad it would be pretty negative aswell

Moran is our Fear láidir in the middle of the field and wins a lot of posession for us, granted he does slow the game down a bit too much for us and loves to carry the ball into the tackle.

Correct and right all ways admired Moran but cost Kerry an all Ireland a couple of years ago carrying it into tackle and turned over

Ya last year he held on too long and got caught and was turned over and dublin equalised and this year he should have held onto it but booted it in and Cork came back down the field to score the winning goal, but then again he's won us a good few games as well and suffered 2 cruciate injuries and nearly lost an eye in a freak tackle against Monaghan in the league so in fairness he has suffered for the cause of kerry football.

We'll miss him when he's gone as we have no dominant midfielders of his size coming through.

Very unusual for Kerry to be airing their dirty laundry in public. We have experience of it in Mayo in the past as so many counties. There will be even more pressure on Kerry now to get back on top and start winning All Ireland's again.

The Kerry gig is the toughest one around. Keane has been hammered from every quarter since the loss. Fans, ex players and, now it seems, current players. He deserves another go. Who else is there? John Sugrue probably has the ambition. Michael Quirke? Tommy Griffin?

Well at least you Kerry ones have balls and when they see their manager is failing they get rid of him - not like the travesty we have had in Tyrone this last 10 years.

10 wasted years - it would never happen in Kerry - good luck to whoever is your next manager.

Kerry fans are unforgiving. Paidi had a name for them. But it's the same for many counties who have had a strong taste of success. Dublin will be no different when we start to decline, Mickey Harte had some troubles in Tyrone, no doubt Cody will now have his doubters. It's part and parcel of job. I'm just surprised that the dressing room has turned on Keane and he's facing a revolt. That should be kept indoors.

As with all these things, if the players turn on you, you should go. Nothing to be gained for Kerry by him staying on.

That's if the reports are true of course.

I'd imagine Tipp's dismantling of Cork in the Munster Final hasn't helped his cause. The decision to go as defensive as they did against a team that played Division 3 football this year was mind boggling at the time but looks even worse now.

Getting rid of Donie Buckley seems to be main issue.

Sorry should have added to be completely fair to Keane, his tactics should still have been good enough to beat Cork. Keane didn't miss those 21 yard frees or stand idly by and match the ball drop into a Cork forward's chest 6 yards out from goal.

He has every right to be aggrieved at his players for the loss to Cork imo.

He did start 7 defenders 3 midfielders and only 4 forwards though and out of those 4 forwards only 2 were what we'd call scoring forwards also he put Tommy Walsh in corner back for the 10 mins or so, crazy shit, I'm all for thinking outside the box but that was just nuts for the sake of being nuts.

Anyway he has another 8 months or so to prove himself, nothing less than winning the allireland in 2021 can save him now so our county board will have about the same length of time to get his successor, they better get it right the next time and thankfully Tim Murphy will also be gone by then.

I suspect that might shorten the careers of Moran and Geaney rather than Keane.

From the outside looking in he got his tactics spot on in last years first All Ireland Final and but for a bit of luck and one or two 50/50 decisions would have won the All Ireland, stopped the 5 in a row and in likeihood he and his team would have been lauded for generations in Kerry as achieving the most significant All Ireland in decades.

Now I'm not sure what impact Buckley had in that attempt and if he had more a say that it would appear the case from the outside. He made a big mistake against Cork but even with those tactics Kerry hit awful wides that you can't count for despite the tactics. Look we know the Cork game was used as preparation for Dublin; he had a system worked out he thought would ultimately beat Dublin; sadly for him knock out championship leaves no room for mistakes and I'm sure he'll learn from it - would be harsh if he wasn't allowed to finish his three year term.

I'd agree with you Mes. The errors and sloppiness from the players was very surprising and Keane cannot be blamed for lads missing close range frees in front of the posts and booming wild shots in the closing moments when holding possession was critical etc.

That however does not excuse the fact that his tactics and team selection were dreadful. The team looked disjointed and indisciplined on his watch and he has to take at least some of the blame. Some hard questions are being asked at CB level, it's not just fans complaining.

He will probably get another year but I said on the Kerry thread that if these reports are true and he has lost the dressing room then it doesn't matter who is right or wrong or who is to blame. There is usually no way back from that.
