Replying To CiarraiMick:  "Bad news for Galway with Comer out for Connaught championship at least. I had Galway favourites for Connaught but its a 3 horse race now for me between themselves Rossies and Mayo. It's hard to call. Can't wait for Donegal/Tyrone the weekend and watch out for Armagh!"
Looks like bad news for Tyrone this evening. Hopefully it doesn't have a huge impact on the squad.

Best wishes to the player in question.

I'd say Armagh are the coming team in Ulster alright. It'll be another couple of years though before they're ready for Tyrone and Donegal.
Still have a slight fancy for Tyrone in Ulster but could go either way of course.
It'll be a strange championship though whatever the outcome.

Hope it's not true for the player involved and also because we want to beat them at full strength, there was a story spun before the Mayo game about a Tyrone player testing positive too, never heard a word about it since unless it's the same story getting spun again. Going to be an interesting Sunday in Ballybofey regardless.

Replying To TheUsername:  "Rumor is Paul Mannion has opted out this year. No idea if its true or not. Maybe because he hasn't togged out for the last couple of games, people making assumptions and catching fire.

Id treat as here say (as you say) myself at the moment, the info hasn't come to me from Crokes or anyone with strong links to the set up."
Caught up with someone out Crokes way, they hadn't heard anything on Mannion opting out, so if true or not its not info on the ground at club level. Apparently he was carrying an injury toward the end of the Club Championship and is easing off. So likely the opt out is just rumor. Panic averted (hopefully).

Heard Dessie is trying to ensure All niggling injuries are fully cleared up in time for Championship - including Paul's.

The underfoot conditions will not be great come Nov and Dec and any kind of muscle strain will be fully exposed playing on a wet heavy pitch.

Would explain a couple of MIA's pal. Heard Collie B wasn't being risked either as he was carrying from the club championship.

I think we can raise a few eyebrows on Sunday. We are on unknown quality to the big teams but we have quality in every line of the team. Hopefully you will all see this Sunday, we are expecting everyone except Mayo obviously to be cheering us on.

Football: Kerry (Leinster: Dublin, Ulster: Tyrone, Connacht: Roscommon)

Hurling: Wexford (Munster: Tipp)

I feel Dublin's momentum may have been broken and despite plenty of young players, some of their older players may have too many miles on the clock. Whether the "rest" will benefit them though is unknown. I think Roscommon will fly under the radar yet again and win Connacht. For some reason I'd fancy Mayo over Galway. I expect Kerry to dismiss Cork easier than most are predicting and Tyrone look best placed to win Ulster particularly if Mattie Donnelly is good to go.

Limerick are missing arguably the best number 3 and 4 in the game currently and do not have as reliable a free taker as most other counties (either close in or long distance). Mike Casey is a brilliant full back so they'll need him back. Declan Hannon also hasnt quite discovered the form of a couple of years ago where for me he was easily Hurler of the Year. Although the same could be argued about Wexford regarding a free taker. Similarly to Dublin, Tipp have a good number of young players coming through but many of the big players have a lot of miles on the clock. It's unlikely to happen but they need to find a full back to release Ronan Maher out the field, who for me is the best player in the country right now. I'll probably eat my words on this one but I'd rather be facing KK than Wexford, Galway or Limerick.

Hurling looks like between Limerick and Tipperary. They are ahead of the rest imo.

Football for me Kerry. They win hard all irelands but equally adept at winning all irelands if it is in the mix with no stand out team (I think Dublin who are still a great side have come back to the pack and Kerry were not that far off last year). Usually the Kingdom take those type of all irelands as well.

On my own county in hurling who knows. Probably in a group after Limerick and Tipperary.
For football injuries to key players will undo us. Our best defender rookie John Daly out for the season with a cruciate and Damo out for at least 5 weeks. Others like Shane Walsh a bit away from full fitness and now Ian Burke injured with the McCarthy slide tackle last Sunday. These are not just panelists but key go to guys.

The All Ireland series is shaping up to be a blockbuster. My fancy has always been Mayo; mainly due to 2020 being a funny year and in true Mayo fashion this would be the year they get over the line with nobody at Croke Park. Apart from that the short, condensed season gives their older players a real shot at it. Very impressive today against a good Roscommon team and Mayo appear to have freshened up parts of the team. They'll beat Galway and then are just two games from it.

After Galway it's a different ballgame though. Kerry will out score Mayo easily.
