That's true in some games but better for referees waiting for scrums to be set correctly than risk a player being paralysed after a scrum collapses.

Tony Ward showing plenty of ignorance with his typical egg chasers comment about how great rugby is and how terrible GAA games are, 1 good rugby game and he gets all excited.

Not really but you would see it that way. As it's clear you can't grasp what a good game of rugby is or even what rugby is about

You don't see half the comments dismissing gaa or soccer in derogatory terms on rugby forums as you do the other way Why are some in soccer and gaa so insecure about rugby... KillingFields (Limerick) - Posts: 3674 - 24/09/2024 10:15:50 2571563 Link 0 |
Don't watch Gaelic football so don't care if Kerry beat us every year. Doesn't affect me. A hurling result however is a different story

Has to be said Rugby would generally be my second favourite sport to watch after hurling.

I've just read the piece, and to be honest, I don't see much wrong with it. It's behind the Irish Independent paywall, but if you have a subscription, it's here: Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2621 - 24/09/2024 11:06:29 2571580 Link 0 |
Shush! Some people here will put you in the same bracket as Tony Ward. :) But again being honest, I'm the same. Hurling is by far my preferred choice. Rugby generally second, football generally third, and soccer a distant fourth. Pikeman96 (Wexford) - Posts: 2621 - 24/09/2024 11:39:37 2571590 Link 0 |
The mention of the word Rugby is enough to trigger a lot of people - the context is not important.

Ward was a good soccer player too. Life's too short to be getting bothered by anyone criticising your preferred sport. GreenandRed (Mayo) - Posts: 7651 - 24/09/2024 13:20:20 2571610 Link 0 |
Yes, sometimes I am very anti rugby. It is not nice stuff by me, and believe me, I don't feel great doing it. Just standing up for the 100% native Irish games of hurling and football. The Munster/Connacht match was very entertaining, and URC have a good product no doubts there.

Ward is entitled to his opinion. That said, Mayo never win All Irelands either.

Ya you've hit the nail on the head. Two poor teams and of course a kiwi got motm lol I dont know why the GAA are rolling over and letting rugby writers mock them while they let Leinster use croke park

I think you will find kicking a pigskin around would be more English than hurling.

1st paragraph of this article on the official GAA website might help you? https://www.gaa.ie/my-gaa/getting-involved/football-history-and-evolution Viking66 (Wexford) - Posts: 13862 - 24/09/2024 20:03:01 2571671 Link 0 |
Ah yes, the Norman game of hurling, which predates the Normans by well over 1,000 years. A game recognised as the oldest Gaelic sport.

You OK as you seem very triggered by rugby.
