The gaa plan to break each division into 2 groups of 4 geographically to cut down on unnecessary travel and each team will get at least 3 games with the top team from each group playing each other in the final so will they will get 4 games. | Aye, try cut down the travel by having double the proposed number of games. . cavanman47 (Cavan) - Posts: 5306 - 12/10/2020 16:43:08 2297057Link 7 |
| I know but league is used to blood new players and to try out new tactics I don't think managers will learn a lot in 3 league games so what you'll get then is teams having a lot of challenge matches which none of us will be able to watch. | Good point but they'll probably just have the 3 games to cut any fixture congestion that could happen. OGarmaile (Tyrone) - Posts: 248 - 16/10/2020 09:52:52 2297946Link 0 |
| Ah it's a good idea financially and health wise in fairness as it cuts down on a lot of the travelling, if right was right we'd have been travelling to ballyboffey in February and possibly Armagh as well if they manage to get promoted to div 1 and yer selves and monaghan would have had to travel down here. To be honest, I wouldn't be making any plans I couldn't change. lionofludesch (Down) - Posts: 475 - 17/10/2020 15:15:18 2298378Link 0 |
| So div 1 next year will have 2 groups I take it that in group 1 will be Donegal Armagh Tyrone and Monaghan and group 2 will have Kerry dublin Roscommon and Galway. KingdomBoy1 (Kerry) - Posts: 14092 - 25/10/2020 20:57:09 2301371Link 0 |

Sounds like we'd have an Ulster championship in the league before the Ulster championship proper, Tirchonaill1 (Donegal) - Posts: 3534 - 25/10/2020 22:19:34 2301413Link 0 |

It was an Irish Times article speculating on what the GAA might do in 2021. The idea of splitting the league would have some merit but in reality it won't happen. The league brings in it's own revenue to the GAA through sponsorship and TV rights plus each individual county sells sponsorship around their grounds mainly for league games; as these are guaranteed games. It stands to sense the higher league you're in; the more exposure your games get etc. sam1884 (UK) - Posts: 999 - 26/10/2020 09:48:59 2301488Link 0 |
