Very little excitement on the forum regarding this years championship. Has our once great footballing county lost its appetite and surrendered to the enemy? What are our expectations for this year? With Dublin in lockdown and them not allowed to do contact training at the minute is this to our advantage? Could we catch them cold in a Leinster final maybe with our superior physicality? Hard to be excited with no Leinster championship dates or fixtures, a potential return to lockdown meaning no championship and a straight knock out competition for this year with no back door (that I'm aware off) I highly doubt we'll catch them cold as were in the same boat. I'll be happy to get to a Leinster final and put up a better showing than last year. Agree, the whole forum is a disaster at the moment. Good to see someone agrees with me on that! Superior physicality?! Im flabbergasted at that claim. Dont want to get too negative this early but yeah thats really bizarre. Meath are not remotely physcial players at the moment to my eye, the opposite I would have said. Nice players. And I cant see Meath beating Dublin at senior level for a very long time. I really hope Im proven wrong though! Take it one match at a time; first up Wexford. I'm not sure there's much appetite for this championship. To me, games behind closed doors are not what the GAA is about and I have zero interest in following it online or on TV. Pretty sure the GAA will plough on with it though because of the government funding. The idea of that funding doesn't really sit easy with me either. Surely a few extra ICU beds would be better use of that money at the moment. Anyway, if that money wasn't being paid over we would probably end up with Dublin, Kerry and Tyrone in the final stages of the championship as they are able to fund themselves. This money will be spent and it's very likely we'll end up with those same teams there anyway. Is there any sense in redirecting money for that? Personally it might be an opportunity. I've been home and away, league or championship since I quit playing. Part of what kept me going for the last few years is the fact that that's what we do. I was reluctant to break the run of games. I think its more down to the continued strangeness of this entire year and the unpredictability of what's going to happen from week to week, we've had no inter county since March, normally everything would be wrapped up by now and with Leinster Council dragging their heels on finalising fixtures (probably wondering if Croke Park is either available or viable) its hard to start thinking about something we as yet know little about. If things do get going I can see some shocks happening this year, whether we will be involved in one of them, good or bad, remains to be seen, it's certainly going to be more unpredictable than normal, personally I think the GAA made a mistake in going ahead with inter county and scrapping the provincial and All Ireland club championships this year, all players are club players and they should have received priority this year in my view, seeking funding to run the All Ireland's at inter county which will have either small crowds or no crowds at all represents poor value in my opinion.

If you put David Clifford in the kilmainham team he wouldn't have looked very ordinary. They were up against a very strong Trim team and no disrespect to kilmainham but the gulf in class is massive. To be honest other than the usual rolled out names Geraghty Na Fianna, Carry-Lynch Kells, Burlingham Simonstown none seem interested at this stage. York Meath Hill should be developed Defence Padraic harnan - is he injured.... Yes but maybe back badly needed Niall Kane - injury.....Not sure Shane McEntee - is he injured.... Could be wont matter anyway he be involved Shane Gallagher - is he injured....Seems to be big loss Ross Ryan - I'd start him corner back.... Good call but if Lavin and Gallagher about they be my call John Lavelle - seemed to have a good championship. Is he worth a run?...Seems like a good lad Gavin McGowan - very consistent surely can't be far off a call up...I'm sure he will be James Reilly Kells should be involved Midfield Brian Conlan - An option at WB or MF....Dunno seen him a few times this year way off the mark Ferguson and Reilly - very solid with Kells. Are either worth a run....Love to see one of them Reillys given a chance Matthew Costelloe/ Luke Mitchell and Jack O'Connor - probably too soon for any or all of them Must be lads for future the Curraha lad anyway the other two have a lot to do Banty Conlan - surely on the panel and a starter or substitute....I reckon he as a player last year will be involved again Jordan Morris and Sean Meade - possible panel members...Dunno maybe Meade not gone on other lad Seamus Mattimoe - 0-9 in a county semi final another good performance Sunday he'd be hard ignored... Can't see O'Rourke being fit enough for 15min @ intercounty. He's not fit enough to start for his club. A great player in his day but I think that ship has sailed. Both Costelloe & Mitchell worth a look though, he could at least bring them into the squad.
