In Cork Senior Football Championship. J McEntee scored 8 points (seven from play) playing in half forwards for UCC against Divisional side Carbery 0-16 to 0-11. Played again a couple of days later this time as half back and scored a goal in extra time but UCC were on the wrong end of a 6-12 to 4-20 scoreline against another Divisional side Duhallow,

Played underage for Meath throughout being well rated similar to Shane whereas I'd wager you couldn't kick snow off a rope. Keegan cup winner too which I'd bet my life is an alien concept to you. Well said and the likes of Dunboyne, Ashbourne and Ratoath should have no problem with that as they have welcomed many different county men into their clubs

Their all beside the Dublin border and some people call them Dublin clubs now so that gives them a great reputation when the county looks in to certain clubs looking for potential new players.

As have Navan as have simonstown as have seneschalstown as have Summerhill and as have I'm sure plenty of other clubs welcomed players from different counties into their clubs. But yes I'm sure if some lad from Dublin or mayo or Monaghan moved into your parish and wanted to Play for your club you'd turn him down. Not a chance!

Difference in someone moving to an area and someone being approached to transfer in. Simonstown were the masters of it years ago with hoops and Skryne fond of picking off neighbouring clubs young talent too

We need lads that have more passion to pull on the green. The bottom line is a lot of the south meath clubs don't share the same level of pride as any North meath men when it comes to meath football. No that's an opinion Loyal. You can't prove the passion of anyone. Stop trying to derail the discussion with this north meath men bull. I'm from north meath myself, Kells born and bred but there are plenty of lads from Dunboyne/ Ratoath/ Ashbourne that are far more fervent in their support for the very reason you say. They're on the Dublin border and get it shoved down their necks every day by Dubs. And lets be honest, there's as many dubs in Navan, Trim and Kells these days too. I wouldn't know 10% of the people in Kells these days due to people moving into the town who are not originally from the town. Wasn't one of our finest in the late 80's the son of a dubliner who won all ireland's with Dublin. And i can guarantee he'd plenty of passion for Meath despite being of Dublin parents. We don't need more north meath men on this team, we need the 15 best players available to Andy and the next best 15 to support that. If they're from north south east west, outer mongolia or outer space it doesn't matter. If they're in green they get my support. But out of respect t0 you let's hear some of these great North Meath men that should be involved. Utter rubbish. Just because you say something is Fact doesn't mean it is. I know lots of South Meath men who are die hard Meath supporters and who follow the team up and down the country league and championship. Same way i know North Meath men who are fair weather supporters and only go to games if Meath get to Croke Park. It's one of those baseless cliches same as that all town teams are soft and the throw the towel in easier blah blah blah. I've seen plenty of town teams over the years getting bullied by so called rural teams but I've also seen them dish it out and bully rural teams into throwing in the towel. Reality is there is diehard meath men and fair weather Meath men in all parts of the county but its nearly always people from a certain part of meath that are completely obsessed with how many lads from their area are on this panel or that panel or how many teams from their area have won leagues and championships this year compared to teams from other parts of the county . Real and proper meath supporters do not care what club or what part of Meath the players are from as long as they give it absolutely everything once they pull on a meath jersey.

Have to remember that the best players don't necessarily come from the best team. That doesn't mean picking a high scoring junior footballer, but worth keeping an eye out on players like Cillian O'Sullivan, who impress individually while their club don't gain any major accolades. The trend of going into the north/south debate is very tiring lads. The reality as I see it is that this whole argument is an excuse people are subconsciously making for the slow decline of the county over a 20 year period. It's a way to make the decline seem like it was engineered somehow, that deep down Meath still is the top county in Ireland, or at least in the top 3/4 only for the county has lost its togetherness. A way to retain pride. I agree that in principle it is a county divided up into a lot of different cultural areas, and it is populated by small town minds who are in positions of power in clubs... but this is not a big enough excuse for our shortcomings. The fallacy of the passion and strength of North Meath is an excuse that comes straight out of the outdated, conservative and slightly ignorant Meathman's football handbook. The same gent who thinks every upcoming year is "our year", the same fellow who thought we are going to waltz out and beat Dublin last year and the same fellow who writes off any opposition who Meath teams would traditionally beat when he was a teenager. The chancer who only turns up to croke park in 30 degree heat and wouldn't dawn Navan on a damp winter's day. Its old thinking. It went out with the 90s. The game has changed. Have you seen these players that are supposedly not showing well ? James mcentee in great form, cilliian o Sullivan pretty much his usual self, mcmahon and Walsh both in semi final so I can't imagine they are struggling too much
