Best Game You've Ever Seen In Carlow - Club Or County

(Oldest Posts First)

Thought this might be a topic to get discussion if anyone sees it. Topic says it all really. What's the best game you've ever witnessed in Carlow? Hurling or Football. Played or watched.

For me it's MLR v Ballyboden the year we won Leinster.

In football the minor games against wexford and meath in dr cullen on the way to the minor final 07 were unbelievable.

The U21 semi final v Jim Gavins Dublin in 2010.

Brendan Murphy unmarkable and Eddie Byrne pushing Rory O'Carroll around.

20 seconds away from winning in normal time and then robbed of a free at the end with the game blown early in extra time.

Great game though.

Has to be Carlow beating Kildare in 2018 in Tullamore. Might not have been best game of football but because of significance of result it seemed at the time like it was Carlows best performance ever. Was some day... & night

Carlow beating wexford in dr Cullen in hurling league in 2010 was a big day for the county and nearly took Clare the following round at home too - lost by 1.

to me that game shows what we could do if - like Kilkenny - we focused on one code.... and, btw, I LOVE hurling... it's just that so many of the better players off that team never really played football again...

that was amazing... and best remembered for the Myshall lads on the terrace... and their goading of Wexford...

The best ever was Leix in 1988... just for Joe Hayden's goal... It's hard to believe now, but Leix was VERY strong then... they won the National League only two years earlier... a very good Carlow team sickened them.

Its a fair point.

I remember a few year after that we drew with Meath in the football but a couple of lads had been sent off and others were injured.

If Mark Brennan and Eddie Byrne had been brought in for the replay, we would have had a chance.

Limerick used to do it in the 90s when their hurlers got knocked out, they would go in with the footballers.

Too many to mention. DCP has given me some of the best days of my life following Carlow GAA. And I have kids!! Where would we be without sport. People who don't get it don't know what they're missing I always say.

St Mullins' wins in Leinster last season at DCP were special, but for me the county final against MLR was some battle. Probably the best hurling county final I've been at.

As mentioned earlier, MLR's win against Boden a few years back was an unreal game to be at.
