19Th Minute Applause

(Oldest Posts First)

When all this craziness ends and gaa soccer rugby or whatever sport is on I propose a 19th minute stand up applause from fans in attendance for all the health workers who have helped so much thus far and yet more to come. They have given so much to this country. Can't thank them enough.

There are more than health workers putting themselves at rick in all of this, yet we here very little about them

i agree with you.
the person in the supermarket selling you your food is just as vital, and they go completely unheralded.i gave one of them a decent easter egg yesterday and wished her a happy easter and thanked her for providing us with such an important service.
do not forget these people, they are earning a fraction of what the healthcare workers earn.

I agree with some of what you say although an applause pays for nothing and maybe that would be good. The real applause would be to pay our health care workers and front line workers proper wages and none of them should have to pay to park their cars during work, or indeed pay transport (buses trains) to get to work. Instead of applause let them in free to all sporting events. All front line workers including the people working day and night to keeps us fed should be paid properly instead of being on a minimum wage. We need to correct our pay systems!

I think it's a given that the GAA will have a minute's silence before the first batch of games, when Irish sport returns, without being asked to do so

That is true, anyone whether on the frontline, or workingin the supermarkets is important in this pandemic.
