Dont be ridiculous so you are saying a group of county players training together with a coach present is done without the say so of head coaches. Dessie Farrell is taking a punishment because as head coach/manager he should of known everything that was going on Common sense is if seeing several big names on a pitch training when they shouldnt is to report them Applying same rules to who exactly? The only other team sports who are training now are professional, getting covid tested regularly. very different to amateur players going into dozens of workpaces.... Sorry Canuck but your first line is in need of exploration...that you doubt that some of these sessions were ordered by these coaches... for me, club pitches were open very early in the morning. That means that someone made a phone call looking for the pitch and someone was asked to open the pitch.... that is how I view the sessions. For me these sessions have been planned and I have no doubt about that. As I see it, it was more than the manager! carlowman (Carlow) - Posts: 1872 - 10/04/2021 19:02:19 2336770 Link 1 |
Yeah... Quarantine hotels and needless panic! Whilst I agree Trump is a moron and idiot there is no need for the Draconian measures Irish employ! 34 deaths in Ireland since December with average age of 83? Come on! The entire adult population of USA will be vaccinated by May..... quarantining visitors from Canada, USA etc many of who are fully vaccinated is both foolish and selfish! A lot of these visitors are Irish returning for bereavements etc! But ok! Continue with mindless paranoia!

Is Professionalism in sport a vaccine against Covid? Are these Professional sports people living in splendid isolation with no human to human contact whatsoever? Have pro's living and working in Ireland in sports gotten Covid? updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 898 - 10/04/2021 22:01:07 2336790 Link 2 |
Professional players who are getting covid tested regularly and isolating if necessary. Very different to amateur players and organisations who wont/may not be able to afford all that covid testing required to allow games take place

Nobody is getting out of here alive!! Is that raw enough for you? Go get the virus cases down to zero....live in isolation ... and I guarantee that in the next 3 months another 34 people will die with average age of 83. Maybe you can up up with a vaccine promising eternal life??

Actually it becomes tiring with you and this argument about semi professional soccer player and your acceptance of them in the work place. Just because they do not go in to as many places as the GAA player it is okay ? I guess the odd old party is okay also because everyone is not doing and there are enough of good citizen following the rules. Do you know for certain they are been tested and who is paying for it ? In Waterford the players were not getting paid because there was no money. Do you really believe they have money to pay for testing. What really is ridiculous is people like you inferring that a few people kicking a ball around are spreading covid. I have members of my family fitting on the front lines against this virus 24/7 and you would want to hear what they have to say about some of the nonsense we are getting fed.

Carlowman you may be correct about the coaches but if some people kicking a ball around in a field is the root cause or even minor contributor to the covid virus then we are for certain doomed. Again at most it was poor judgement from a public image point of view. If there were 7 Joe Soaps kicking a ball around in t a field would there be a camera man rushing out to get a photo. We need to keep in prospective what is a danger while not selectively pointing the finger at one group of seven and no interest in another. Were these seven players causing anymore risk than the total number of semi pro soccer players in the country going to the work place. This is out and out hypocrisy. I am not picking on semi pro- soccer players but it just illustrates this hypocrisy.

There were more Covid deaths in January of this year alone than in ALL of 2020. Over 1,000 people died. 1,000 people, not numbers. People like you and I. 34 my arse!! lilylanger (Kildare) - Posts: 758 - 10/04/2021 23:17:30 2336804 Link 2 |
I agree 100% Canuck we are living in a country where the attitude is if I can't have what I want then the crowd over there shouldn't have what they want. It's bringing out a bitterness and nastiness in people which isn't helping us to get through this or isn't helpful in controlling Covid numbers. I'm not looking for rugby or soccer to be stopped as this is obviously an outlet fur players and fans to get away from Covid for a few hours each week but to then say at the same time we can't play or train at another sport is hypocritical and anti that sport. To say the pros are in bubbles and isolated from the rest of us is impractical for a start and just plainly lies. How many sports people in this country in their 20s are earning enough to live in a house or apartment on their own, can't have a partner meet them, get their food delivered and how do they get fuel for their car without interaction with someone. I know of a LOI player who lives at home with his parents who both work in factories and he has a brother still at school- how is this different from most GAA players. Take Johnny Sexton the most high profile professional player in the country, he has a wife and kids at home does he isolate from them during the rugby season or does he meet the kids who are coming home from school or his wife who does the shopping? If he does meet them then he is operating outside the team bubble. It's time now to let the kids back training in all sports and let GAA Intercounty back and stop this anti-GAA agenda masking as necessary restrictions updwell (Limerick) - Posts: 898 - 11/04/2021 08:25:42 2336821 Link 4 |
I remember there was a spike of Covid-19 cases in Ireland after Christmas! Maybe Irish coming back to New York should have been kept in quarantine hotels for a few weeks to stop spread of U.K. variant. That looks like the way of the future! Anyway, I am off to Florida again... fully vaccinated and ready to party!

The safety of the so called elite sports and their bubble as the answer to their pass to practice and play is a joke. 27 seven players and officials in the Vancouver Canucks organization has the virus and they also spread it in the community. Now a Toronto Maple Leaf player has it and there is a scramble to see where else it went. Canuck (Waterford) - Posts: 3026 - 11/04/2021 14:33:45 2336855 Link 1 |
100%. See now the Irish woman's rugby team to play France might have to do so in Belfast. Something about France not on green list. Always a way round restrictions when pros involved. A lock of GAA lads having a kick about are nailed. Sure it's only GAA.

Is there anything as boring as having people who moved overseas come back and tell you how their life is so much better? Real lowbrow stuff. Generally speaking no loss to us and not much addition to anyone else. Greenfield (Meath) - Posts: 524 - 12/04/2021 12:27:06 2336950 Link 1 |
But you aren't based in New York anyway so why even bother mention it.

We'd have to seal the border to stop the UK variant continuing to be spread, so therefore there would be none of the six counties in the all Ireland. The UK variant did not come from the USA, the hint is in the name.
