St Patrick is alive and well and operates between lower middle abbey street and Talbot street. (Currently taking a hiatus of course)

No that isn't it, I might tweet Wooly again as he probably isn't too busy at the moment.

Tipperary are the only county to win a senior all Ireland in every decade. The biggest gap being from 1971 to 1989.

14 counties have played in at least one All Ireland Hurling finals (13 have won at least one - Antrim being the exception).

The traditional big 3 have won 71% of Finals.

25 teams have played in at least one All Ireland Football Final (with 19 winning at least one).

The traditional big 2 have won 49% of these finals.

Both Mayo in Football and Galway in hurling have the worst record in Finals with a 18% and 20% win rate (for teams with more than a couple of appearances).

You're correct. I missed that.

Of the teams with 3 or more appearances, I think Tipp have the best win rate in Hurling (68%).
In Football Down has the best win rate (83%) - followed by Tipp on 80%.

Obviously using the 3 or more appearances to suit my bias tho!

Limerick (2/2) are the only team who have a 100% record in Football finals and Kerry (1/1) are the only team undefeated in Hurling finals.

Some good GAA quiz questions there.

Cork's Teddy McCarthy became the first player (and still is the only player) in the history of the GAA to win All-Ireland medals in both codes in the same season - 1990.

The only players to win player of the year awards (correct me if I'm wrong) when their team hasn't won the All Ireland are Brian Whelehan, Tony Browne, Dan Shanahan, Austin Gleeson, Lee Keegan and Andy Moran.
The two older Waterford men didn't even reach the finals those seasons (BUT thoroughly deserved their awards).

Did Whelehan not win his POTY award in 1998 when Offaly won the All Ireland via the back door? I think he won a Texaco hurler of the year award the year they beat Limerick in the final too.

Brian Whelahan won two Texaco Hurler of the Year awards - 1994 & 1998. The same years that Offaly won All Irelands.

He wasn't picked as an All Star in 1994, but was in 1998 at full foward.

My mistake. For some reason I thought he also won in 1995.
Incorrect also ok Bernard Brogan.

I remember well the heartbreak of the 1995 all Ireland football final when the Dubs beat us by 1 point. Peter Canavan won player of the year.
I remember well the joy of 2003 when we won our first all Ireland final,it was 3rd time lucky and Armagh great Stevie Mc Donnell won player of the year.
There are probably others too that won the award even though their team didn't win the all Ireland final.

Despite Tipp having won 28 SH All Irelands. They have yet to win one in a year ending in 3. 2023 will be their next chance of breaking their dismal record in regards to that number.
