Replying To lilylanger:  "It was the Kerry player that held Fenton & the other Dublin player in the final. Colm O'Rourke spoke about it on the Sunday Game. Moran was then supposed to catch the ball but he punched it for some reason. Backfired completely on Kerry."
Look at it again . After the throw in Fenton screened Killian Spillane . That allowed Murchan to get away . Small took McHugh out with a screen last night . Dublin have a basketball coach as part of their backroom team . I think that is a very good thing because basketball complements football. The hand speed, speed of thought and the footwork required in basketball are all of great benefit to footballers . Screening is part of the game in basketball.

Awful from Horan again.
The guy may be good at blooding youth , but when it comes to tactical nous or game management he lacks it in spades.
It was so obvious that Jordan Flynn needed to be hooked at H/T when he got his 1st booking.
Talented youth but no temperament as we have seen in earlier rounds, and would be obviously be targeted by Monaghan in 2nd half.
Favorites to go down now and deservedly so.

Reading too much into it.

How much of it was Galway being that good, or were Tyrone really bad? Genuine question as I haven't watched it. Of course the numerical advantage always helps also, as does the opposition danger man going off injured.

So while they will be contenders, all in all I think you're reading a bit much into it.

Important win in Clones, and one which leaves us with a bit of breathing room now and one step closer to retaining Division 1 status, and we can see where we can go with the rest of the league.

Twas tight enough early on, but a more clinical second half performance helped us pull away, particularly when it hit the final quarter. Still room for improvement in areas but there were some strong performances too, from Conor McCarthy especially who was excellent, along with the likes of Kearns and Boyle. A good spread of scorers which has been the case in every league game, so we've not been near as reliant on McManus as we have been in the past. Good to see us continue to add to the scoreboard late on, as points difference could play a part yet.

Tyrone brought it back to three b4 mcshane and burns went off. Then threw in the towel.

In all fairness, that second yellow card for Jordan seemed very harsh. I know It's easy to criticise referees but the complete lack of consistency in issuing cards must be very frustrating for players.

Being honest the last 20 mins not a game really. Once McShane went off (hope he is okay) and the 2nd sending off it was one way traffic. Would not look hugely into it but definitely we are in the chasing pack with the likes of Kerry, Donegal, Tyrone Monaghan etc and importantly have developed good squad depth.

To be honest I didn't think there was a card warranted in the game at all. But then I'd be old school. Mayo were well in the game until the sending off, which effectively ended the contest. Game lacked intensity, so did Mayo for whatever reason.
Mc Carthy was the difference up to that point, whom I have often doubted, but this season he has been that missing link we needed to help Mc Manus. He is showing the class act that he is

Mayo are not gone yet, but need to up their intensity for rest of the league no matter what personel they field. The last game against Tyrone at home could be an all ticket affair

It is looking like Galway V Dublin on March 22nd in Salthill, might be a key game in the league.

Good win for Galway, but not AI contenders by a long way yet , in my opinion, Tyrone very poor, threw the towel in.
Galway are a division 1 team, but nothing more.

They are as much a contender as any team can be outside of the incumbent champions.

We are in the chasing pack...it could be debated how far we are off the chase perhaps.

Division 1 for a number of years and going well so far this year after a disappointing 2019.

Or it could be a rubber duck with both of them having already qualified for the league final the week later ?
