Replying To Sligoman1234:  "I suppose it'd be a good idea alright if ya could get to two or three games at the weekend but knowing our lot that won't happen. What happened at co board? Surely above all years they should be pulling together this year!

I suppose what sanitising has to be done bar the dressing rooms as everything else is outdoors and I suppose really all clubs should have been doing a proper clean of dressing rooms anyway in years gone by with all the bacteria athletes foot etc. Looking forward to games all the same some tasty ones to start off!"
I thought they weren't allowed to use the dressing rooms?

Dressing rooms are back in use at the end of the month. How do you sanitise a dressing room. I can't see much time been spent cleaning and scrubbing every evening after training, match's, for both senior and underage

Not at the moment but I'd imagine that'll change when they go back to games?

Any news on how teams are fairing out? In the west Enniscrone looking strong on challenge results hammered Bonniconlon off the pitch. Easkey with two losses, ArdnareeI wouldnt think much of. Thought they would have beaten Killala though. Castleconnor look in a dire state. Hearing the McDonnell brothers both gone, no David Carrabine, Sean Carrabine out with an ankle injury, keeper Kenneth Healy out with a torn calf and lost to Ardagh last weekend. Havent heard any word on Farnans and Pat's.

Where are the McDonnells gone to?

They are not in our group so don't really care but really poor form bringing out a clubs injury woes like that. I certainly wouldn't have interest in spewing rubbish about another club and their struggles here.
No more than ourselves, they've avoided the nonsense that is annual amalgamation at underage that is rife in the rest of West Sligo and will hopefully benefit from avoiding it with those absentees that you've pointed out.

I'll also say that talking to lads from round the county, every team seems to be missing guys for a host of reasons this year.

I see a fair bit of talk about county boards using live streaming a selection of club games so to allow those who can't go to games to see them. I suppose it's asking too much of our own board to do the same?

Is it not up to some individual or business to step forward and help with broadcast? The last number of months have shown the value of the GAA and it's voulenters. Hard to stomach the board bashing so soon after things are starting to return to new normal.

The first issue would be broadband. Most grounds would struggle with that straight away. I don't think there is a hope in hell that Co Football will resume. We will be lucky if we can run off this skeleton timetable.

Anyone want to put their neck on the line and call this weekends games?

Drumcliffe v Tubbercurry: I think a Tubber win by 3/4
Geevagh v Coolera: Coolera win
E.Harps v St.Marys: St Mary's win by 5/6
Coolaney/Mull v Calry: Mullinabreena win

In Intermediate:
Ballymote v Bunninadden: Bunninadden to shade it
Farnans v Easkey: Farnan's should be fine in this one. A draw would be a good result for Easkey.
Curry v Enniscrone: A handy enough win for Curry
Castleconnor v St.Johns: A win for St Johns with 5+ to spare.

Any word on tickets or if there are any needed?

Each club gets 90 tickets. 40 for the panel and 50 for supporter's. Massive problem for clubs to try and decide how to distribute them. It's not an All Ireland final, just a first round championship game. Co Board should have this decided last week so clubs could advertise tickets on parish newsletter and club notes. Only avenue for advertising is Twitter and Facebook and not all members are on these apps. There will be young lads making their debut and parents/siblings won't get to see them play.
The games themselves I expect a win for Mary's, Drumcliffe, in group A and Calry and Geevagh in B. Intermediate could see a win for Ballymote,Farnans ,Curry and St. John's.
I will even go further and predict the top and bottom 2 in each group..
Group A Mary's and Shamrock Gaels winners with Tubber and Drumcliffe in relegation.
Group B. Tourlestrane, Calry to win with Coolera and Geevagh in relegation

Eoin, I respectively suggest it will not prove difficult for the town teams as invariably one taxi would be sufficient to cater for the number of supporters they bring. Yours etc Leyny

alot of people going to be missing out on tickets, hopefully they up it to 500 as the weeks progress
as for the games, i agree with most of your choices except the curry and enniscrone game , i hear enniscrone are going seriously well, and i think bunninadden will pip ballymote, was very impressed with bunninaddens resolve, turning around a disaster year like they did last year, they learned alot and grew as a team in my opinion, not the easy target they were of the past, and honestly that ballymote team is very poor, i can see tubber and gaels in relegation and calry and geevagh, that harps team will also struggle this year, all in all its great to have the championship back

Very witty reply that I can't argue with. The rural clubs where GAA is strong is struggling with the allocation. Sponsors, ex players, coaches, family, great volunteers xx fellas that cut the grass, women that made sambos, people that do gates, pull weeds, the list is endless. Who do you leave out ??

Sligo the only Connacht County with no live streaming this weekend. Typical of County Board. Slow to the table, behind the times, lazy.

Curry and Enniscrone is I see. Might be a few other clubs doing their own thing. How good the quality will be is another thing but better than being left outside the gate

Innovative counties like Leitrim, Galway and Roscommon are facilitating their supporters both at home and abroad by live streaming games and should be rightly applauded, especially as many elderly folk would be somewhat reticent to attend, given the current pandemic. Our " knights at the round table" prefer to take the "ostrich approach" by keeping the head down and conveniently forgetting ( because it may cost them some money) about the 1000s of gaels across the globe who would relish the prospect of relaxing on a Saturday evening by watching a live club game.
These knights are not thinking outside of the board room, as here is an opportunity to showcase the games, get sponsorship for same, not to mention running advs promoting various Sligo businesses inc Hotels, restaurants etc who badly require injections of people. Yours etc Leyny

Anyone at any game yesterday what was the standard like? Following games between Twitter and various other apps it seems like Tubber had a real big come back at senior. Geevagh struggling at Senior at the first hurdle is not a good sign for them.

In intermediate the west sligo derby looked a real tit for tat affair while Bunnies looked to pull away in last 15 mins if what's online is anyway accurate! Sooner I can get in a gate to see a game without a ticket the better
